When you power back up after letting DDU do its thing, Windows will boot into its regular operating mode by default

Run DDU in safe mode first, then install the new drivers from AMD's site at the end. Don't try to install AMD drivers on top of NVIDIA. You will make your computer curl up in a corner sucking its thumb and crying itself to sleep.

Would have suggested that if he was going to continue using it, but for selling you rather want to wipe your stuff and do a fresh install anyway, so 2 birds with one stone.

I just extended my C drive by using a free tool (Minitool). And it worked for me. I can suggest this to you as well. It takes some time but works.

Hi guys I just did a fresh install windows via USB. The product key from cmd didn't work so I just selected i don't have product key and it seems the pc remembered the previous one and it activated itself. I extended c drive volume in the process. Thanks 🙂

Should be OK I think. Just in case, before wiping etc, download a new copy of windows, and put onto a USB... you can run it unlicensed if the key doesn't work.

It likely won't even ask since the installer will detect there's already an install there before you delete the partitions and take the licence info from it.

Reset the PC won't change the partition layout.

If selling you might want to format the drive anyway, and reinstall windows.

IIRC, you can only extend volume into adjoining partitions, whereas yours has another partition between... but could be wrong.

JellyBurger676 reacted to BlueChinchillaEatingDorito in Do i have to use usb/sata motherboard ports in order?
    Short answer, no.

Long answer, if you want the best performance, you would want to keep track of which SATA ports you're using and make sure those are using the native SATA lanes. Some boards have additional SATA ports that run off a separate controller which tend to be slower and have higher latency. So those are not ideal for SSDs but servicable for HDDs and CD/DVD/Blu-Ray drives.

SATA is slow enough and chipsets are fast enough that native vs chipset SATA doesn't matter anymore.

You need to use both types on connectors. In your picture, the two on the left are female/male RGB, and the one on the right is for PWM fan control.

    @HairlessMonkeyBoy
Oh so I daisy chain the male/female connectors. (using the 2 on left of each fan apart from the first fan).
Then I use the 3rd and last connector (on the right of photo) and plug this in mobo or fanhub then mobo itself?

Sorry if these questions are dumb.

The difference in single-core performance between the 3600 and 3900X really isn't as large as you seem to be making out to be.
If anything, you could go with a 3600XT for probably just as small of a single-core bump in performance, but still, strictly for gaming, Intel still is better, so I really don't get your argument of going for a 12-core just for better single-core performance.

If you don’t have a hard drive or ssd with an operating system on it connected to the motherboard, then the boot led being on is expected. The devices changed screen is also normal since you put in a different cpu and/or ram than the previous owner. Everything looks to be working as expected so far.

JellyBurger676 reacted to MkaiL in Can i use only 2 rams sticks from a pack of 4?
But yours come from a set of 4 that have been tested and are known to work well together (not that it even matters, you can just add another 2x8gb kit later if you want). The fact that you'll only use 2 of the kit makes no difference, unless you have a HEDT or TR system with a quad channel motherboard (not to be confused with 4 dimm slots, which is dual channel). Make sure to utilize the correct dimm slots to enable dual channel configuration and you'll be good to go (check the manual but it's usually the 2nd and 4th slot). Don't forget to enable XMP, DOCP, ... (whatever it's called in your bios) otherwise your sticks will run at default speeds instead of 3200mhz.

JellyBurger676 reacted to minibois in intel vs amd?!? Whats the dfference
There is no better or worse in this. Both Intel and AMD make a host of different products.
Within each category there may be a better option for a certain use case, but there is no absolute best here. (only Siths deal in absolutes).

You should rather approach this from a perspective of "Is AMD or Intel better for my use-case, within this budget, etc."
