there's a lot of fossilzed bone that has legitimately zero scientific value, usually either because a LOT of skeletons were found, or the fragments that were found are, well.. too fragmented.

there's a skeleton of a prehistoric whale somewhere out there that's the work of a mad man, who joked about it being more glue than bone. once assembled they struggled to find a museum that wanted to clear the space to put it in. there's also no scientific value in it because of how fragmented the skeleton is, and because well.. the species are well documented.

in the end a lot of what they dig up is not interesting enough for the money it takes to pull it out the ground. if a project like this funnels some money towards the paleontologists (because y'know.. they still need to dig it up.) it might be of more value than putting it all in a drawer at a university.
and i'd guarantee you that if they dig up bones of any scientific or museum value, they will be worth WAY more in that avenue than as a raw resource for rings anyways, so those will never go towards stuff like this.

i would assume that "dinosaur" is slightly misleading though, because theoretically that name refers to a specific segment of prehistoric animals, but there's FAR more fossilized bone in the ground than just dinosaurs... most of which would be called "dinosaur bone" by anyone but paleontologists.

either way.. it's just a roundabout way of making an ivory ring, and i somehow feel more okay with that ivory coming from dig sites, than from poachers.

    Complaint:

There's a sponsor that gets plugged multiple times per video that doesn't offer a warranty on the majority of their products.
Not sure of the company's name, but it looks like they sell rebranded water bottles and the CEO has a super anti-worker stance re: unions.

I feel like LMG shouldn't be advertising products from such an anti-consumer company.

Went with the 8000 as its cheaper, and faster than the 7000 in that price range to "futureproof", plus if a 2nd hand card dies you've still got the APU 😉

Agreed with the RAM, but was trying to keep the budget part of the build. Cooler absolutely, use what you can get for the budget!

With GPU, AMD cards have been REALLY unreliable for me lately, especially in UE games. I did notice a couple of 12Gb 3060 for $40 more... but a second hand 3070 would be the way to go!

That RX580 is way behind the times for a 7th gen Ryzen, plus there's offers on 8th gen now!

Wouldn't bother with the faster RAM, 6000Mt/s is enough! And yep... Windows ain't $100,

Adjusted slightly, have a look at this one and see what you think? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/phJtFs

Indeed this, dedicated all of my business hardware to folding but that's unsustainable in the long term.

I see it as a charitable donation, I can bear the cost in the short term, but longer just isn't possible! On the plus side, finally hit the 500,000 mark! Sees that the WUs are coming through a lot quicker now!

If you have any of those hard drives left you could do a video building a server to donate to folding@home. I read on the ama on reddit that they are getting close to solving their server problems because of server donations and it might be the push that smooths things out for them.

In the example about you would need to use server.littlechami.tk (or whatever DNS you have set).

Also make sure you have correctly port forwarded 25565 (For Java). Be aware as well that unless you have a static IP, or a way to update the dynamic dns with the host, your target could change quite frequently!

Be patient as well, DNS & A name changes can take up to 24 hrs to propagate. You can try running ipconfig /flushDNS in cmd and then connecting but no guarantees!

Seems too convenient to me that they've gone back to Bournemouth. Where is the original listing based? I would be very very wary here! That price is about a 1/3 of what I would expect for a 2017 model. Even my i5 Air would get more than that!
