    1. No, the laptop will stop charging the battery and the power will be used to run the laptop. Once you unplug it it will start using the battery.
    2. Yes, only do it once in a while for calibrating the battery. Once or twice a year, not more.
    3. That helps a lot. My laptop still has 70% health after 3 years but my friends with the exact same laptop have like 40% after 3 years. Difference is I set a charging limit to 80 and they didn't.

Most laptop have plastic bottom which is not intended to radiate the heat.

suraj ranjan reacted to mariushm in Is it possible to divide or balance the internet speed across two devices with two lan cables connected to one modem ??
    There's 8 megabits in a megabyte , so if you're getting 18 megabytes ... that's 18*8 = 144 megabits.

You could get a router with some QOS options and configure your modem as pass-through but the easiest would be to just limit the download speed of Steam or whatever you're using. There's various free applications that can do that, if the application itself doesn't have such options. Don't remember one off the top of my head right now though.

A quick, simple, if not somewhat hacky way you could cheat to do this for the whole PC would be to go into Control Panel and force the ethernet adapter to 100Mbit Full Duplex.  Although obviously that might be a bit too harsh of a limitation given that even if you were watching 4K you shouldn't need 44Mbit for the TV.

suraj ranjan got a reaction from HanZie82 in Can I install SSD in my laptop as boot drive using caddy ?
Thanks to everyone who responded, I installed my SSD on the caddy itself and boot up speed has improved and also I see some other changes in my system as well, like, before the external drive used to make more sound but now the system works silently most of the times, thank you.

okay, thank you and may be you can just say "it's fine to run them in the background" would finish the topic, you don't need to say if I should use my mind or not, that's not what I am discussing here of how I should use my mind..Not everyone here knows everything like you, it would be better to explain it in simpler way if you wish.

Yeah, it should be good if you really need so much storage. If it's just for games i'd go for bigger SSD instead tho.

V-NAND is just Samsung's fancy name for 3D NAND, as in Vertical-stacking NAND, 3D in several layers as opposed to just one layer 2D NAND.

Hello from 2019, we have better SSDs now. There's a lot of new NVMe SSDs on par with 970 Pro in durability and performance while being cheaper. Team MP34, Corsair MP510, Mushkin Pilot, ADATA SX8200 Pro, Inland Premium, Sabrent Rocket, all these SSDs generally hover around 100-110$ per 1TB, you don't need more for any PC be it exclusively gaming machine or high-end 4k video editing rig.
The only SSD from your list that still stands for it's place is Intel Optane but it's still fucking expensive too.
SATA and NVMe are interfaces. NVMe is the same thing as PCI-e which is used for GPUs mostly, just in M.2 form factor. It's therefore a lot faster than SATA, most cheap NVMe SSDs now have 2-3GB\s burst read\write speeds while SATA ones are limited to SATA3 interface speed of 550MB\s.

Crucial MX500 is SATA SSD, better than WD Green S240.
WD Blue S250 should be on level with Crucial MX500 but it costs more so it's out of consideration.
Kingston KC600 should be on level with Crucial MX500 too but it too costs more.
Samsung 860 EVO should be better than Crucial MX500 in IOPS and durability and it probably worth a bit higher price.
To get NVMe SSD you need a bit higher budget and it generally doesn't worth to get 250GB SSD at this point, aim for 500GB ones. But for gaming PC it doesn't really matter SATA or NVMe, just get what you can. It's just that NVMe SSDs are very cheap now and for higher budgets SATA SSDs don't worth saving a few bucks.

If you don't want to significantly raise your budget then this SSD is the only choice but i wouldn't say it's a good SSD, it's 2D TLC NAND but for SATA SSD it's probably still okay. For 3700k R you can get 480GB NVMe Kingston A1000 or if you don't have M.2 i'd recommend at least Crucial MX500 or Samsung 860 EVO.

Crucial tends to be a little cheaper than Samsung, but still has cache memory, which a lot of even cheaper drives don't.

I agree abouttt the EVO but there is something fishy about that listing. Samsung does not make a 256GB 860 EVO. They make 250GB ones, though.

Also, any SSD that isn't a multiple of 250 GB or 256 GB is an inferior one. One that is 240GB has added overprovisioning in an attempt to compensate for inferior quality.

They are very similar in performance with 1060 edging ahead in some titles and RX570 in a few others.
Both are good GPUs for that price range so choose the card that you can get for the best price imo.

The GTX 1050 Ti is garbage, you should look for a RX 570 if you're on a tight budget.
