Billman87 got a reaction from Frankie in Do you think that Nvidia should recall 970's? (and Nvidia's response)
I own an MSI 970 and you would have to pry it from my cold dead hands, I ignore marketing spin and focus on real world performance.

I play old games such as GTA SAMP and iRacing at 60 FPS at Ultra 5k (SoftTH Video wall) with high to max setting running 2x or 4x AA and AF.
Even games like Skyrim are playable at 5k on medium settings.

If nVidia want to give me a free game cool other wise meh, This card blew my expectations away and I know it will serve me for many years.

Right or wrong the card is amazing and even with this I will still continue to recommend the GTX 970

    1) no it does not matter, because as you can see the 780ti had only 48 and it still performed just as well.

    2) so you got a GPU that has 3.5GB "usable" instead of 4GB ok well unless youre running ultra HD textures at 1440p or 4k it doesnt matter, and if you are they you probably own a titan black or 780ti or 980, not a 970

    3) is your fps in games good? yes it is. ok then its fine as it is.

    4) That's not how the world works. If the 970 is 15% slower than a 980, the next year it will STILL be 15% slower than a 980. Its not like the 970 magically loses performance while the 980 doesnt lol

    5) youre complaining about 3.5GB when nvidia optimises drivers to work on GPUs down to 1GB of vram. And guess what? You can still play games with 1GB of vram so its not like suddenly you wont be able to play any games because you only have 3.5GB instead of 4

    6) then why did you buy it? You could have easily checked the ROPs and VRAM and whatever and returned the card when you saw it didnt meet your specifications.

As a GTX 970 owner, I think that they should offer refunds to any and all users, and offer an incentive to users whom choose to keep their cards (maybe a free game that wouldn't conflict with the Ubisoft promo).

I would never pay for a ram drive and if your computer does not suck the gains are often marginal gains in most games.

I use IMDisk to create a ram drive for free, it can write to Physical memory for speed or write to an image file for persisantce, also a image file and be preloaded before use, or cached as it used.

Then use Symbolic links to point the to the ram drive from an existing location.

Personally I use raided HDD and am happy with the performance, however if your running steam games from a USB drive I can see the advantage for a ram drive otherwise this is a gimmick.

The next stage is removing the bezels and creating a custom mount for them all. This will take me some time as I'm having too much fun with them all on swinging arms.

Yes, the Ford Escort in EU used to be a RWD machine that was used in rally racing, but mk3 onwards was reduced to a FWD shopping cart. I despise them, it's like a baby mondeo with no character or style. They were phased out in favour of the Ford Focus here in Europe.

If you think 12 G/s vs 6 G/s is worse then time to go back to basic math.

Here it is, it is basically a SAS to SATA converter/cable

    http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-18-Inch-Cable-Power-SAS729PW18/dp/B000V72AQ4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1396897407&sr=8-1&keywords=sas+to+sata+cable

If you plug it into a 6 G/s SATA port then you are basically throwing money out the door as you'll never get the 12 G/s range performance out of it.

    Billman87 got a reaction from Paralectic in i5 4670k or 4570?
My understanding is the K versions are often from better quality manufacturing plants even if you don't want overclock I must agree with the crowd.
From experience my 2600k clock for clock was a better chip than my current 3770 non K but in saying that, I still push the 3770 to 4.2 (40x105) without drama.

Can really argue with Paralectics point too if you have no interest in tweaking it the real world gains are not there but personally I would not buy another non K myself.

oh and btw, you can still OC the 4570 or 4440 etc.. just because it's a K series doesn't mean you can't OC. the OC is limited to like 400mhz though.

That's not your actual download speed. This was my titanfall beta download speed and it is incorrect: http://puu.sh/6WVjQ

You download compressed and unpack it. Its measuring the speed of unpacked files going onto your hard drive.

You guys are clueless. Do your due diligence and study and find out don't speculate. Also you don't have to disable the whole firewall you can point in where it needs to go and open a port up && teach yourself something in the process.

    Well, I fixed it somehow.
I did turn off overclocking my RAM but I tested memtestx86 and they are all fine, ran multiple tests.

I just uninstalled VMWare 10.0.1, deleted old settings and reinstalled 10.0.0, which was the one I used that worked without BSODs.
I'll go back to overclocking my CPU and RAM and see if it was that, but for now no BSOD for 2-3 days straight.

I'll probably just set all cores to 4.2 or 4.1 ghz (my CPU must've been pretty bad, can't OC above 4.2 'stabley') and set the voltage to adaptive.
And it's easy to OC RAM ofc, just set it to XMP and the profile is already set for my RAM.

And before I even ran VMs, I had my CPU OC'd and my RAM and my 2 GPUs, all was fine and stable running a while.
I think it is just VMWare having issues with the drivers. VMWare installs a lot of drivers.

    And no, it's not there.
Like I said, I can't find any .dmp files anywhere at all, that image was the only thing I can find relating to my BSOD in Windows.
