you should also ask when the person will be buying the computer. sales come and go frequently. a rig made today may be different from another rig made the week before.
imo a three day notice would be ideal.

Buy stuff and try it. Some research is good, but don't over-analyze.

NewKID reacted to kokakolia in Nice Over-Ear Headphones for around $70USD?
The best portable over ear headphones you can buy for $79 are definitely the Status Audio CB-1:
https://www.amazon.com/Status-Audio-Closed-Monitor-Headphones/dp/B01BDX1IVW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1482349196&sr=8-2&keywords=status+audio
The chord is removable, so you don't have to worry about the length. I truly believe that this feature is worth an extra $9 over the budget since I never had a wired pair last over 8 months due to audio jack failures.

If you don't mind the camera, i recommend you to buy M8. I don't have anything against Samsung, but i do have against TouchWiz... That's the worst Android skin i ever used/tried... I haven't personally tinkered with the never iterations of Sense, but last time when i used it, it was pretty fast
Also, why would you buy S5... heart rate monitor? fingerprint sensor?
I think that the only thing in what S5 is better than M8 is camera, but for that you can buy/use a dedicated one...

NewKID got a reaction from ShearMe in Dt880 Pro's, do i get an external dac/amp?
cannot be used while plugged in

NewKID got a reaction from Geekazoid in Do you own a 16:10 aspect ratio monitor?
i prefer a 16:10 monitor over a 16:9 monitor. the extra height helps while doing homework, reading forums, playing mmos. also, 1080p monitors in portrait looks horrible imo.
i use three U2412M

NewKID got a reaction from plutomaniac in Headphones Suggestions
Virtual surrounds horrible as well what you want is just plain stereo headphones with a large sound stage and accurate sound positioning. The AD700 is a good example. These are opened with recessed bass. A good overall headphone is the HD 558. Its open with moderate bass. Closed headphones wont be good for gaming as they have shallow sound stage, but they are good for bass. At greater budgets, youll see more open headphones with greater bass response.
You could get a $8 mic thatll work just as well
Whats your budget and country?

NewKID got a reaction from MyLaptopSucks in Usb Vs Analog With Pci-e Soundcard
i would never use a usb headset/headphones. it uses its own sound card in the usb connection which is usually inferior to the sound on the mobo.
2 and 3 are both good. if you plan on gettin aftermarket amp/dac, #2 would work just fine.
as jimbo mentioned, it, also, depends on your perception.

I'd take a Adudiotechnica ad700 and a Mic over just about every headset except possibly a sennheiser pc360.

It should be noted that you won't probably even notice the difference between 1600MHz RAM and 2200MHz RAM.
