My take is that they aren’t removing the false information, just making it harder for people to find it accidentally. If you want to read it its still there. In the end they made their algorithm and they didnt even need to make a public statement. The fact that they told their users is still respectable. They were never supposed to be a free search engine, just one stripped from trackers(not censorship).

    Summary
This week, the European Parliament voted in favor of making batteries more sustainable including making them removable and replaceable

    My thoughts
This is a Good thing as Many companies GLUE down the batteries as a ANTI-repair mechanic. making it near impossible to remove batteries safely. without "special" Pry tools to cut the glue/tape under the batteries.

This could also be a good thing in the long run. as batteries will be more replaceable, and if a battery of a device dies a consumer can just replace it themselves, without needing to go to the company, and ask for a Replacement battery "after the warranty period is over"

The only issue there still is Are companies that HARDLOCK batteries trough special chips inside said battery/battery pack Like Linus Mentioned in their DIY RED camera battery pack

Sometimes when we're dealing with a problem for a long time, it helps to get outside perspective - we often overlook seemingly obvious solutions.
I don't use wireless IEM's so I'm not sure about that specifically - you may wish to open a new thread specifically about Wireless IEM recommendations (and of course look for recommendations here).
Heh - practice does help though. Last solder job I did was also pretty rough but I hardly ever do it anymore.

unrelated does anyone know which wireless IEM's have the best battery life? looking for at least 10 hours with noise canceling on if possible... could settle for 8?
definately dont have the dexterity to work with tiny components like that, you should see the soldering job i did on my dishwasher's controller board lololol

Honestly, you might want to consider buying two pairs of high end wireless IEM's. One pair to use, and another that is always charged. When your current pair dies, you swap and charge em back up.

That would at least minimize some of your concerns with wireless.

If that doesn't work, you're basically back to where you started: Buy expensive replacement cables.

You could try to make your own, I suppose.

The topic indicates that there is no such thing as a chip shortage in reality, and the shortage we're experiencing is artificial in nature. The purpose is simple, more money.

I believe it's extremely interesting how right after covid there was suddenly a perfectly convenient global chip shortage, which conveniently increased the prices of most items that require chips. It's also surprisingly convenient how mining business bloomed during the global chip shortage.

Was able to do this on my FX-6300 for a single core bound game years ago. You have a different chip so your success may vary. Give it a try, good luck.

Was able to go from 4ghz to 4.5ghz by disabling some cores and lowering my heat output, but you might have better performance if you just upgrade your cooler. Judging by the fact that youre still running phenom CPU, im assuming that most upgrades are not an option for you tho.

starry reacted to tikker in Help me build a NAS with the parts I have laying around.
No, but those drives aren't made for NAS usage. For WD the NAS lineup is their Red, Red Plus or Red Pro drives and for Seagate the NAS lineup are the IronWolf or IronWolf Pro models. This isn't just a marketing difference. NAS drives are built under the assumption they are used in an enclosure close to other drives (so they are made to deal with vibrations better) and in RAID arrays (normal drives will try to recover from errors, which can get them kicked out of the array if they try too long). I'm not 100% sure if this affects the faux-RAID solutions of Synology, Unraid etc., but in general those other drives are not technically made to be used in NASes.
Footprint, power usage and OS. If you go the DIY route you have full control over the hardware that goes in and what OS it runs. If you go with a premade box like Synology, QNAP or others you get a ready-to-go solution where you only need to add the drives. Plus it's tailored to its purpose, so you'll get a tiny footprint and low power consumption that is basically impossible to match in any DIY build.

I haven't heard about that brand, but Synology and QNAP are generally well reviewed and the most well known providers for these solutions.
Yeah that's kind of the point of these small boxes: to provide an easy to use mass storage solution. Keep in mind that if you want to make use of their RAID 1 or equivalent functionality, you'll need at least 2 drives. You also get the capacity of only 1 drive, as they will be mirrors of each other. An 8 TB RAID 1 solution would thus require you to get 2 8 TB drives.

Finally there's the obligatory "RAID is not a backup". RAID (or its equivalents) is just there to protect you in case a drive decides to die. If you store valuable data on it you should make actual backups.
