Tzztr Rrtr got a reaction from eurekadx in Turn off iPhone notification sounds when unlocked
    Hey

so I recently made the switch from android to iOS, but tbh don’t want to get into a discussion as to why etc.

one thing I notice that really does my head in however is this:

Whenever I have my phone on ring and it’s unlocked (aka me using the phone) I still get notification dings and vibrations in addition to the banner. The banner is good, but the sounds and vibrations are just disruptive… I don’t need to be extra alert about this notification when I’m already looking at the phone.

I dug around a bit but I couldn’t find a way to disable this behavior which naturally just wasn’t happening on android.

Do you guys know how to disable this or should I ask if it is even possible to do so?

Unfortunately, no. Best bet would wait and see if will eventually be added to the list so you can remove it or ignore it.

No, probably not the same batch. Better get 2x16GB if you want 32GB.

In realistic scenarios, you're probably looking at a worst-case 3% difference between CL16 and CL18. In many cases, there shouldn't be any difference, and when there is, it won't be perceptible. You'd only notice if you were looking at benchmark numbers.

Consider buying some dual ranked memory, the performance is superb, and cannot be matched easily with just a single ranked pair.

Fair enough. Congratulations on the 3070!

If you have the cash to spare, that's not a bad reason to upgrade. Also, If you don't already have 32GB, I'd say that's another good reason. A few newer games, like Metro Exodus PC Enhanced Edition, do get close to using 16GB, so background tasks may become more of a problem going forward.

Basically, if you're goal is to future proof with RAM, I think going up to 32GB+ capacity is just as important.

Buy a cheap cutting board, or ask for throw aways at your nearest woodworker.
Heck, pretty sure hardware store that provides cutting/sawing service will have some too. They'd probably give you for free if you ask nicely
You don't exactly need a very long one afterall. At most 3 times the arm's largest surface that supposedly touch your table.
Example, long enough to be cut into two or four part. :
    https://www.amazon.com/Blue-cardinalfish-Canvas-Scroll-Poster/dp/B00VHB15L4/ref=sr_1_26?field-material_browse=720784011&pf_rd_i=289863&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=25b59836-f507-48c7-81ec-ed2559c68edf&pf_rd_r=D4BJ2WFA1BH7DECYH3E6&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-2&pf_rd_t=101&qid=1640431322&s=kitchen&sr=1-26

Clamp : Nearest hardware store, buy a big enough C clamp or F clamp.

Foam either you buy or grab one of those foam used to pack electronics. Cutting mat. Broken yoga matress.
    Silicone : baking mat
Or just use thick enough cardboard. Since the idea is simply to soften the effect of the board/clamp edges.

if you want to install the arm directly "on" your table instead of "floating" beside it, you don't need the additional clamp. The arm's clamp itself becomes the additional clamp.
Which is the cheapest method. (Since most likely you can get all you need for free)

Measure your table thickness, measure your arm clamp maximum range.
Deduct max range with table thickness. Deduct it again around 1-2cm for cardboard/foam.
(You don't need to make the  foam/cardboard 1cm thick each side, even 2-3mm is thick enough if it's only for mic).
    Divide the result by 2.
Now you know what's the maximum thickness of add-on board you can get.

Think of it like you are screwing CPU cooler when tightening the clamp, you don't want it loose, but also don't go all ham on it.

That should be good enough then.

You might wanna think it through... since you'll need at least the R5 3600 and faster memory to get a notable gain in "fps potential" if the current setup is adequate stick to it until the next generation... what you got will by all means ensure 60fps on Triple A (most of the time) and be 100fps+ on e-sports for sure.

Fair enough, so I'd say there's not so much incentive to go with a higher end model of the RX 5700.

Temperature alone shouldn't be that much of a concern, the GPU itself can handle temps on the mid 80's fine the issue really lies mostly on the acoustics.

Yes, to a degree nVidia is often more hassle free.

Okay, so while I tried to decide the 2060S went out of stock and the other 2060S are way more expensive and I actually found a 5700 for just 296€ and because I didn't want it to go out of stock too I just bought it!

Wish me luck that I don't have stability issues ?

Daaaaw, had to like cuz that profile pic looks too damn cute

But I have to agree with Darkseth, the OP7p will feel smoother, and also I really like the idea of the big screen.

And vs the S10... I think I do value the software experience enough to warrant the extra cost. Specially considering that I've had bad experiences with samsung phones getting slow really fast, even though it's supposedly fixed, I still prefer the near-stock experience

Yes, they are. I have a Phillips 4k TV and can stream Amazon and Netflix in 4k. Its an android OS though but pretty much all 4k smart TVs can stream in 4k without an external box as far as I know (mainstream brands, there will always be quirky alternatives that behave differently).

make sure each VST gets its own track, and that there's the same number of the each VST, don't do it randomly or that wouldn't be accurate, but yes that would be more realistic  good luck

That doesn't sound all that bad. I'll try to remember to post my own findings. Once I get the new device (I've decided on going with the 13inch for now, and if that doesn't cut it, I'll get the 15) I'll set up the same testing scenario using a random mix of Loom (an additive synth) Reaktor 6 modules, Reaktor 6FX, some native compressors and a bunch of other VSTs (I am a bit of a plug-in whore :D). I'll make them the same on both systems and note when they start to choke.

This may sound very unscientific, but I think it's closer to real world performance than a benchmark would be.

it's because masOS uses it's own audio driver system, so it doesn't need drivers, it's plug and play, and it works the same on all audio interfaces so the performance will be the same, but Windows doesn't have that, it purely relies on the drivers made by the audio interface company.

here's a benchmark for the 4 core i7-8550U (13 inch) and the 6 core i7-8750H (15 inch ), the test is not done on macOS and it's pretty damn hard to find this kind of benchmark of your old Macbook but to give you an idea, the 4 core scores around 650 and the 6 core scores around 1000-1100.

SGA 1566 is a VST btw, this benchmark tests how many VST's can run at the same time before it starts to stutter, it's a lightweight VST so the workload is spread across all cores pretty evenly, but in real world scenarios where you would use different kinds of VST's and each core gets loaded differently, then you'll probably see the results closer together.

i don't understand this Windows laptop vs Apple laptop debate, MacOs does have a better audio driver system going on, but Windows relies on the drivers that comes with your external Audio Interface, so if you have a good audio interface and drivers, then they'll both perform very similar, but it's not only about audio drivers, he probably got used to the workflow in MacOS, there's nothing wrong with that.

Ryzen First Gen is pretty bad when it comes to audio production because a 7700K can beat it easily in that scenario

yeah in that case i advise you go with the 6 core i7 in the 15inch, because the 4 core i7 or 4 core i5 in the 13inch is barely an upgrade.
