Streaming 4K with built in Smart TV-apps

Hey,

 

as the title suggest, I am trying to figure out whether or not the built in apps on todays SmartTVs are capable of 4K streaming on Netflix etc. or do I absolutely need an external streaming stick with 4K capability?

Yes, they are. I have a Phillips 4k TV and can stream Amazon and Netflix in 4k. Its an android OS though but pretty much all 4k smart TVs can stream in 4k without an external box as far as I know (mainstream brands, there will always be quirky alternatives that behave differently).
