Have you heard of this cool thing called a “Firewall”, schools have group policies and unless you have direct permission from IT administrator, tampering with blocked services can get you in trouble...

It's not like a monitor needs to be new to work right. So what if it mentions Vista?

Our LAN Party network, worked! We set up our own DHCP servers and VLANs, it is cable managed and got all our PCs up. Thanks for all the support on the last post :), We had our Minecraft server, two rooms networked and running our LAN network, and two Nintendo switches running smash bros on projectors.. the footage is five minutes before the party.

very cool, but use it as a life lesson as what is to come in the future. Somebody unfamiliar with IT telling you how it should be lol. They could've let you or maybe done it them selves - create a VLAN specifically for you guys. Add some network security NAC/ISE whatever and you would've been fine on their network.

So our school IT department told us that they did not want the CIS class to have LAN parties on their network... So we had to create a new home for our Minecraft server and other servers. So we took spare space in our Cisco Rack and put Gigabit switches on each rack, + mounted our servers to the rack.. and we have started to wire the 50 some PCs in our room up to the network. AND CABLE MANAGEMENT so HUZZAH.. There is still a lot of work to do but wish us luck..

Went in the CIS closet as a challenge to find a decent board that could at least handle an Core i5 or better, which is difficult for us due to the fact all the spare PCs are Q6600 Quad cores or worse... either way I dug in the “Dead Board Bin” and found a working board and found a core i5 and I kinda want to laugh because it looks like something you would see in scrapyard wars...

Our school leaves the serial connections attached because the connectors are fragile and the hwic-2t cards are high priced. Not to mention that in the ccna1-4 and security classes all use the same serial layout in every lab.

At home I use t1 cables that I made with an inch or so of slack for pretty cable management.

    hello everyone
I am not sure if this is a stupid question or not. But i have a usb home 2.1 system. I am looking to buy a Ps4 in the near future and i was wondering if there is a way i can use my system on both my PC and my PS4 without having to plug in and out cables every time i want to switch between the systems.
    Thanks in advance

*SMALL EDIT* because i see it caused some discussion in the comments below. The cable coming out of my 2.1 is a USB-B to a standard USB-A. I need to get that USB-A into 2 devices (my PC and PS4) at the same time

You can put the ISO on the flash drive using a tool called Rufus . It makes bootable USB drives from the ISO files.

Secondly, if you're worried about performance, Ubuntu has a mint distro that's mainly designed for Raspberry Pi's since they don't have a ton of computing power. I'd try mint first, see if you like it, if not, try regular ubuntu. It's not super intensive either.
