Gaming on 1080p, in 2018, using GTX 1070.

Any thoughts on that ?? is that a kind of wasteful thing  ? or in fact is it an advantageable thing ?

1080p is still ran by many in the gaming community.  Bump that refresh rate up to 144hz or 240hz and you'll be flying.

Yeah it's fine. 1080p 144Hz will be perfect with the 1070.

mostly online games. Dota, PUBG, GTA V online. But, in the future, I think I ll play some games in PC. Eventhough I do own a PS 4. Well cause u know, there are some games that just better be played on PC than console.

LOL i've been told that by so many... and its cause i didn't buy parts to build my pc... i bought pre built from best buy. ordered a pc with a 1080ti, that got cancelled. so the geek squad tech said, you want this? we have this one 5 days away, and charged me 2200 dollars for my 'Rig 1' compared to the 2100 i had spent on a pc with a 1080ti... 

 

Just haven't gotten around to the 1440p world yet.

I'm using my 1070 for 1080p ultrawide, it's definitely overpowered but at least I can always run max details and never frame dip. It's not overpowered by much though, some games really get the fans spinning

yeah, i got an information stating that using 1070 in 1080p will run every details at max level in every games. so yeah, 1070 it is then.

I play Overwatch on low settings with a 1070 on a 1080p panel.

Getting around 180-250Fps. lol

my pc cant figure out 299-300fps... it just flips between the two... GPU sits 40% usage... max settings. however turn render up to 200%... i fall to 190-200fps...

When you lower the settings you are offloading a lot of work to your CPU so, that's probably why you are seeing 40% GPU usage.

In Overwatch, there is a setting called reduce buffering which, reduces the pre-rendered frames and for me, it made the game feel faster and, the FPS also improved.

hmmm maybe i'll do that and turn on reduce buffering. but even at max settings i see 40% gpu usage. HOWEVER i have lower latency at max graphics settings than on low. it makes 0 sense. 20ms on max, 40 on high, 80 on low.

Well, you don't have any other choice if you want to play at high refresh rates, as pretty much no card below 1070 will handle 144 FPS at 1080p for foreseeable future

Haven't looked at latency myself, to be honest, all I know is after I turned it on the game felt much more responsive and, I went from horrible aim to fairly decent when it comes to flick shots.

 

I was decent with Soldier before but, he isn't a single shot.
