You would of fried everything, get a new PSU to test it first because in rare cases you might not of fried everything. Always worth a check.

I suggest a completely fresh install of the OS(removing all partitions on the OS drive and starting over. Just installing over the current installation will retain all bloatware AFAIK). If you do that, your registry will be totally reset and therefore you will need to reinstall your games.

I think we really need a sticky on this, or recommend software in general.  I feel like this question is asked too much.

    That aside:

For free AV you should either get Avira or Bitdefender.  Bitdefender is more lightweight, but it doesn't give you many options in terms of control or how it works.

If you want a paid one then either Bitdefender or Kaspersky.  I would probably go with Kaspersky just for the fact that their team has found a lot of security issues in the past.  You can also check out AVTEST, a third-party company that rates AVs.  (Bitdefender and Kaspersky are the top 2)

Yes but chances are you will only get it to work at 1600mhz or slightly higher.

FX's IMCs prefer 2 sticks instead of 4. With 4 sticks of ram I could manage just short of 1800mhz with 32GBs or ram which isnt bad but with just two of those stick I've gone out to 2239mhz with the same 1866 ram.

TLDR. Yes it will work. Dont plan on overclocking it very far unless you get lucky with the CPU IMC.

WD Green is just made for storage purpose as it has larger capacity.
    Install the windows on Seagate.

You still have plenty of storage in Seagate drive, You can install the games into that.
If you're ready for longer loading times install the games on WD Green.

For blender I was personally thinking about Just getting one of the extreme edition intel for the PCI express lanes and then filling up the gpu's with 980's or something.

Since the render only uses single precision atm it would be pointless to use Titans.

I was going to have it running linux, then set cycles to GPU compute on the separate machine, and then maybe buy more of the same thing and have your main editing pc then spread the rendering to the individual pc's around making a mini farm.

This is one of the few imacs that is actually a terrible computer as well as overpriced: http://store.apple.com/us/buy-mac/imac?product=MF883LL/A&step=config#
The mac mini line is also very bad, in fact it has very strong competitors even in their own imac cousins, let alone others.
I'm not very informed about prebuilts (I wouldn't get one anyway, apple is an exception because of how often it gets brought up and the amount of arguments I've had about them), but I'd say it's safe to assume anything mounting an e1 apu qualifies for this, it's just too slow to be sold.

Thank you so much with the advice, I will look over it all. All this advice was so helpful and handy, thinking about it, I wouldn't mind spending some extra money for parts if they use less power. Right now I'm going to use the dell dimension e521 that I bought of a friend a few years ago until I get the money.

Again thank you for all the support

So, your definition of "cheap" is pretty different from mine, but I'm cool with that. At those prices, I would go with this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157475 It's uber power efficient, has 8 cores, can transcode three 1080p video streams on the fly at once without buffering, and is passively cooled. Be sure to get the correct RAM for it though (It's ECC Unregistered Unbuffered RAM, not Registered and not Buffered).

    I love it so far.
Great case. I recommend the Silverstone SFX 450w PSU personally. The SFX form factor gives you room you need in the Node 304 for cable management.
Why do you need a GPU? FreeNAS' user interface is entirely web based. You won't need the GPU beyond setting it up for the first time, and the C2750D4I has built in graphics anyway as well as IPMI, so a graphics adapter is entirely unnecessary for it. Unless you decide you want to go with the Xeon & such, though I wouldn't recommend that.

I highly recommend Ebay used parts. Make sure the seller has high feedback and gives Ebay Buyer's Protection.
I got two Xeon 4 core CPUs with 32GB of ECC DDR2 RAM and the motherboard all for $235. Pretty epic honestly. It sucks electricity like a gay vampire sucks ****, but you get the idea. Each RAM stick uses 10w on idle, and I have 8.
Up to you, but if power/electricity cost isn't a concern (it depends a lot on where you live) then this is the way to go imo.
I recommend Plex Media Server on Amahi, or if you go with ECC RAM, then Plex with FreeNAS.
Disclaimer: You don't need 8 cores or 32GB of RAM. I need those. You probably need 2 cores and 8GB of RAM at most, though 4 cores with 16GB would be good too for multiple streams going at the same time. So you could probably get that for $130-$150.
Where do you live? That decides a lot, both for Ebay and electricity prices.

Hi, Can anyone help me pick parts for a fast but cheap FTP/Video streaming server. I don't mind what CPU, GPU ECT. But I want at least 8GB of RAM and 4TB of storage and a small form factor case.

    Thanks.
