dgsddfgdfhgs reacted to Soag in Games suggestion for 60 yr old dad ???
He mentioned steep learning curve, not controls (apart from driving) and said his father already played FPS games.
Since DOOM is just mindless mayhem he should be fine. It's a single player as well, so no problems with the whole afking part.
And such games are the best for people 60+ due to what action games cause.
Video for reference:
LIMBO lasts few hours at best, yes, but it's pretty straightforward, goes cheap and is a good opportunity to see if he would enjoy such games
Go back to Valiant Hearts and finish it. It's not long and the ending is well worth it ;).
Mafia 2: it's an engaging game with great story, a 3rd person shooter others claim people of that age enjoy, drivving is there but is predominantly just cruising and since that title seems to be be appealing it might be a good opportunity to get better/more comfortable with driving shit in games.

dgsddfgdfhgs reacted to porina in Did 2019 tech impress you?
That's kinda the way tech goes. Generally speaking, over the longer term you get more performance and/or less cost to do something. Doing something new comes out less frequently. If we look at tech that enables you to practically do something you couldn't before, what was there? Consumer launch of VR was 2016. RTX was 2018. Maybe next year we'll have the next big "something".
If I had to pick one product (family) of the year, it would be Zen 2. It's not perfect by any means but it is the first time in a very long time that AMD has clearly taken over consumer desktop leadership from Intel.
I get what you mean, but obsolete is probably isn't the best word for it. I got non-super 2070, and it's not like it became unusable overnight when the super version was announced. All that means is that if buying today, there is a better choice unless there are non-supers going at a good discount now.

dgsddfgdfhgs got a reaction from Animal901 in Did 2019 tech impress you?
we have some amazing stuffs this year like the ryzen 3600, gtx1650/1660 super, 5700xt and more which offers great value
some may think we have gone very far,
but imo we are stuck / nothing improved...simply becoz i was thinking they are just cheaper of older techs 2 yrs ago
eg 8700k > 3600
gtx 970 >1060 (3gb) > 1650 super
gtx1070 > 1660 super
1080 > 5700xt...
then I lost all motivation to upgrades, do you feel the same?

h61 is the barebone chipset which you can only buy new right now, all other stopped production...
other chipsets have fancier io/ ports/ slots etc
only consider when you have everything else already on hand

dgsddfgdfhgs got a reaction from Catsrules in Format .xml text document in Excel
may be the macro /recorder in notepad++ could do the trick, basically repeats you actions for set number of times you edited i.e. key logger
eg.
start recording
search specific keywords > moving the arrows keys >press enter / return
stop recording and run
you could be very creative with these functions, and you may want to split you file into smaller files

dgsddfgdfhgs got a reaction from Catsrules in Format .xml text document in Excel
a little tip for manual search & replace, a tab in notepad tranlates to next cell in excel
so open xml in notepad separate all >< with >'tab'< then copy everything to excel for further edit
tools like notepad++ is quite useful too

dgsddfgdfhgs got a reaction from TechnicGeek in Is New Build with 1x 250GB SSD and 1x HDD Enough?
first games saves are pretty small in size, a few hundred mb, you should often backup to usb/ google drive etc
you will be moving only one current games to ssd with 250gb drive, and transfer them back to HDD when game is finished
many games are over 80gb...
always consider future upgrades
HDD are easy to add and reusable on future builds, but keep in mind the size and combinations that you dont want excessive slow drives you sys cant handle
