Shadow of Mordor is a relatively easy game to run, so no 5k 60 fps is not a thing yet for modern games.

How dare Oculus protect their investment? Sorry, not seeing what's really wrong here.

dimitriianghelov reacted to Sakkura in Oculus Home update breaks ReVive compatibility
Oculus have already explained that hacks like Revive would probably break in the course of software updates, so you're just bringing this up again to bash on Oculus.
Their approach is the walled garden, and that has pros and cons. It keeps out the Chinese knockoff VR headsets but also has collateral damage like this.

dimitriianghelov reacted to PCIsMasterRace in Facebook is spying on Oculus Rift Users
Source: http://www.techworm.net/2016/04/oculus-rift-vr-headset-software-sending-data-back-facebook-servers.html
Users of the Oculus Rift have detected a background program in the Oculus Rift software which sends information to Facebook's servers.
In the Oculus Rift's privacy policy, it states that information collected by the Oculus Rift, which may include the users physical movements while wearing the Oculus Rift and the users IP address, may be used by third parties.
(Also for those who don't already know, Facebook owns Oculus Rift.)

the steam fanboys are really going all out on Oculus, when you can't find real faults you just make them up , actually Oculus is "checking for updates" , but that doesn't stop the fanboys from lying .

dimitriianghelov reacted to zMeul in the VR "war" starts to take shape - Project Cars multiplayer
source: http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/showthread.php?43740-Oculus-Rift-CV1-Discussion&p=1260029&viewfull=1#post1260029
the game director for Project Cars, Stephen Viljoen, had this to say when talking about incompatibility between the STEAM and Oculus stores
STEAM is pretty much hardware agnostic (VR) and will let you access it with any HMD other than HTC Vive; whereas, Oculus Sore works exclusively with the Rift
so, if two friends have one Rift and one Vive they can start a versus match on STEAM, but they can't do so with a Oculus store game
and this is how "console wars" made it to the PC ... what a shame
as time passes, the rift will grow as developers will be forced to support a single platform via exclusive deals or just financial reasons
due to their prices, owning both HMD systems is out of the question for a lot of people and they probably will settle with the most "open" one
and this will create yet another problem, since the player base will be so small and divided, most developers won't even develop a VR game
ps: if I recall right, SONY have stated that "Morpheus" would work (some day) on PC - that's another point for STEAM

dimitriianghelov reacted to Sakkura in the VR "war" starts to take shape - Project Cars multiplayer
It's not about restricting the game to one store, it's about preventing cross-platform multiplayer for a game that is available on multiple stores. And Steamworks matchmaking is exclusive. So the blame falls on the devs (and Steamworks) here.

You're making a fuss where there is none to begin with. Based on history, it should run great on everything. Optimized for AMD doesn't mean optimized for consoles only. I know you really really really don't like AMD but this is crazy. One news and all hell breaks loose. How about, idk, waiting on performance reviews sometime in the future?

And here's the email that was sent to all employees in the Xbox Division:

Well you've got to admire the marketing skills here.
C'mon Ubisoft, FFS when are you gonna learn this sort of bullshit is exactly why you have a bad reputation. The sad thing is though, despite all the bad press they've received in the last few years people still swallow up their product's without question. Its a mystery?

Spotify saw how angry people were and are now doing Damage Control. They have said that Windows 10 Mobile users will receive a Spotify update soon and that they still somewhat care about WP despite their previous announcement.
Here's what they had to say:
So......... Yeah.
I think they originally meant that Windows Phone 8 would no longer be supported and that Windows Phone 8.1 or newer would be needed for future updates. However they're wording didn't help anybody understand.

via: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2016-03-04-epic-boss-accuses-microsoft-of-trying-to-monopolise-game-development-on-pc
just this week I posted an article that sheds some light on this whole mess that is Windows 10, DirectX12 and Universal Windows Platform
here's what going on
in yesterday's podcast (TechTalk #104) with JayZTwoCents, Barnacules (a former MS employee, now a independe SW developer) had some not so nice things to say about MS and their Universal Windows Platform
^ jump to 52min
the rundown is this
while a universal platform sounds good, for the PC gaming is rather (very) bad since it puts restrictions on the development and directly hinders the natural capabilities of DX12
apps trough MS' Store will run in borderless window, with V-Sync always on and capped at 60FPS
on top of that, UWP introduces a lot of overhead, and reducing overhead that was the main reason why DX12 exists
he also speaks of the possibility that MS one day could just remove the Win32 environment and will leave you (the consumer) with just UWP apps - just like Metro on W8
MircroSoft is a monopoly, and so, they can force whatever they envision onto their customers
if HW manufactures, specifically AMD and nVidia, and game developers, do not come forward ,,, well, PC gaming as we know it, will be no more - every PC running Windows OS will be just another X-Box
GabeN, praise his name, saw this with W8 launch - the result of that, STEAM OS
the bad part .. STEAM OS is a pile of stinking shite
I hope Vulkan and Linux game development takes a huge leap ahead, otherwise ..... rest in pieces
