Hey Amazon, don't you do the same? Or is it only bad when others do it.

Honey should move to AWS, then they won't care lol. Also Google and Amazon literally listen to us in our homes, Honey knowing my shopping behavior is not a big scare. Pick your battles Amazon hahaha!

Idk how much I wanna believe this. I mean, PayPal isn't malicious nor owned by some Chinese company. I don't think they could or would have changed anything about Honey so soon after purchasing it. I've been using it a lot for the past couple of years now and haven't had anything weird or suspicious happen.

Here's the other thing. Who's actually the real root of this? Because if it was from a Twitch streamer who showed a leaked ROM that can't be verified where that ROM came from or when in the development it was made, then it's a pretty gross accusation. I'm looking at some of the footage of the game from whatever I can, the animations look fine. The attack animation effects themselves look like they got an overhaul as well. If the example used from the Twitter poster was actually in the game, this appears to be the outlier, not the norm.

In short, did people just go "Masuda said he wanted to focus on quality, so we should expect Final Fantasy "Sephiroth's Supernova" level of detail in every animation"?

EDIT: Should also point out that attack animations for Pokemon have to be generic as possible because they have to cover a range of different types of attacks. And considering you can likely insert any arbitrary attack or skill in a Pokemon's move set list, you'd have to make a system to cover all of them.

You forgot that not every pokemon has the same stats.
There is a level of randomness to it. Speed, attack, defense, all those things are different from pokemon to pokemon.
Even if the pokemons are the same, like pikachu vs pikachu.
And they can change a LOT, like, insane.
Bulbasaur for example at level 100 has attack points between 92 and 216, that's a massive gap.

Y'know it's really cool how people saw an opportunity to say "Hmm, maybe crunch, yearly releases and being rushed to hell by a greedy rightsholder company that wants to ensure new merchandise every year isn't good for both the developers' health and the quality of the resulting games" and instead just took it as an opportunity to say "lol game freak lazy hashtag gamefreaklied hashtag bringbacknationaldex"

Fuck the Pokémon community. Like what are people expecting Game Freak to say, that The Pokémon Company screwed them over? Because they can't, otherwise heads'll roll at Game Freak.

This is a big deal... why?
Gran Turismo 6 was using models dating back to 2001 when it came out. It’s a known fact that Valve reuses models from game to game. Dunno why it’s such a big deal here.

Food for thought: you can export a base model, but that doesn't mean the final output will be the same on two different systems. While I don't really have a reason to suspect why it'd be used, tessellation can dynamically add detail you won't see if you export a model. At least not without the displacement map.

In any case, we also have to remember that:
Game Freak is a relatively small company that employs 143 people as of 2018. They already had two games released this year, one of them being multi-platform.

LOL ... but from a different perspective. To a musician (like me, for example), the term "pp" actually means "very soft", meaning a passage of music is supposed to be performed very softly / quietly.

I'm currently on Haswell-S on my desktop (4790K - I guess that's actually Devil's Canyon / Haswell Refresh).  Am tentatively planning to upgrade to Ryzen 5000 / AM5 in 2021 / 2022, or whenever it's been out long enough for the initial bugs to be worked out and Black Friday sales to have dropped the Ryzen 7 tier chips down to about $200 or so.

A couple things that could delay my upgrade, besides budget limiting me, would be
not a big enough upgrade from my 4790K (won't do much detail here, other than I'm looking for a minimum of equivalent to 286-10 @ $300 (Jan-1989) to 486DX4-120 @ $100 (Oct-1995) upgrade, which I think was about a 75-80X (TIMES, not percent) improvement in performance and a price drop to 1/3), as well as
not long-enough future compatibility (I'd like to replace my then-acquired golden-sample SeaSonic Prime PSU a few times (because it died of old age - btw in-warranty failure would be infant mortality) before I have to replace the motherboard) and the ability to use the entire product stack on the motherboard, from $30 entry level low-TDP CPUs to $8K server CPUs, among other things.

My current laptop is on Skylake, with an i7-6700K.  I'm maybe hoping I can manage to get an i9-9900 or 9900T (or if Intel launches a 10nm or 7nm CPU on 1151, a high core count version of one of those, but I'm not expecting it) running on my laptop, but I won't be getting one until whatever non-physically-compatible next-generation has launched AND the CPU has dropped to about $300-350 if it's an i9 or $200-250 if it's an i7, at Micro Center.
As for replacing the laptop entirely, for now I'm waiting for DDR6 to do that.  (I generally don't like to get each new generation of DDR RAM that comes out for each system - it's too quick of an upgrade cycle.  For now, it looks like I'd be leapfrogging desktop vs laptop (desktop DDR3, laptop DDR4, desktop DDR5, laptop DDR6), but I really don't know.

8uhbbhu8 reacted to PlayStation 2 in WTF is nest? a rant about americentrism in tech and internet in general
Huh? Is your rant essentially complaining that American homes almost always have air conditioning and us using the Imperial system means that we’re backwards?
Our houses usually have air conditioning because it’s a highly wanted feature here that also isn’t too expensive to fit into a house permanently. It’s kind of a necessity here more than most places because the temperatures in many places can wildly vary. Smart thermometers that connect to the internet, however, are rather pointless.

Also, because it tremendously bothers me, but why does everyone complain when American videos use the Imperial system but Americans don’t complain about the Metric system? Is it because we aren’t arrogant and understand that countries are different, unlike the rest of the world?
