    1. Plenty of wattage. But your power supply is low quality and might warrant replacement, if not immediately then at least as soon as you have the money for it.

    2. It's a fine combination.

    3. Should be fine just uninstalling the old AMD driver, installing the new card, and installing the new Nvidia driver. And if you do clean install Windows, you only need to install the Nvidia driver.

BSOD dumps are log files that can be analyzed.  You can download an app like BlueScreenView or do it yourself in event viewer.

I'd send it Gigabyte's way too, but I don't think you'll get an immediate fix.

Personally I'd take a visit to Gigabyte's forum and see if anyone else either has your same APU/Mobo combo or something close with the same issue.  If no luck, I'd return the motherboard.  It's not completely unlikely a motherboard will have bugs on processors it wasn't initially designed for.

    1. Yes, it is capable. BTW, the ASRock Fatality is probably a better value when it comes to VRMs if you don't mind the red. You can get the PRIME X370 Pro most of the time for not much more than the STRIX.

If you don't have another Ryzen CPU you can loan or a store, AMD has this for you

Yes, of course they're capable. They're modern motherboards with a processor that supports a lot of memory sticks from various manufacturers.
If you want to be absolutely sure the memory sticks will run in dual channel, go to that motherboard's page and look up the memory sticks supported

Your Ballistix Sport memory sticks use memory chips with the code BLS8G4D240FSB , if you search for BLS8G4D240 in the PDF you will see that it's there.

You won't find FSB in the pdf, but you'll find this code with FSA and FSC at the end... which should be just codes for different revisions or production batches or maybe different packaging for the memory chips, no actual difference in the internal construction of the memory chips.

If your memory is not there, it doesn't mean it's not compatible, it just means Asus didn't have those memory sticks in their lab to be absolutely sure they work.

There’s nothing against electronic components being brought into the plane but if they suspect anything or feel suspicious 99% of the time it won’t be allowed. I haven’t brought a computer component on a plane so I would definitely ask the company giving the flight

Better spend on new NVME or better GPU. That will boost your pc signicantly...

Chuck03 reacted to SupaKomputa in Ram Guide.! 16GB OR 8GB
    1. Ram speed makes small difference so far for me in real life. Having 2400mhz vs 3200mhz only small performance gain (+10fps) very unnoticeable.
    2. Dual rank or Dual channel? If rank, same performance, any would perform the same. Dual channel will perform a little bit faster.
    3. Just get the cheapest stick from reputable brand, they will do fine.

Also please avoid 4gb dimms as will go out of style soon. If you plan to upgrade those sticks will drop in price as nobody want 4gb sticks.
16gb is the sweet spot, but more memory is better for 3D / rendering.
You may want to upgrade to 32gb, so i vote 8x2 or 16x1 and leave the empty slot for future upgrade.

Chuck03 reacted to mike_ers in Ram Guide.! 16GB OR 8GB
Do 16 GB unless your budget is just way too tight. 8 gigs is starting to become bare minimum at this point. 16 gigs in dual channel with a 1600 will serve you well for at least a few years.

Most modern AAA titles will use 5-10 GB of RAM alone, and add that to your windows processes, background processes, and perhaps a browser with a few tabs, and you're going to have a bad time on 8 GB. Doing productivity work? 8GB isn't going to give you nearly as good of an experience as 16GB unless you're going to be using some really old school programs from the XP/Vista era.

Before my current build I was on 8 GB and with not a whole lot of background processes, I hit 90% RAM usage without a browser in pretty much any AAA title released in the last couple of years. Chrome would always take a while to open and is a bit sluggish because my RAM would hit 100% once I opened it while in-game.

That being said, you CAN play modern games at high or ultra settings with 8 GB and probably will be able to long enough for you to invest for another 2x4GB kit (a year or two more before 8 GB becomes too little for max settings.) I would still prefer 2x8GB in most scenarios though even with the ridiculous RAM prices right now.

just to be clear dual rank is not the same as dual channel.

dual channel is how the CPU accesses the ram based on a wiring configuration on the motherboard.
      -  you can't do quad channel except on high end desktop so don't worry about it
      -  the speed ram is advertised at is the effective DDR speed, while they actually run at half of that. (this doesn't really change anything for you though)

dual rank is the arrangement of flash chips on the stick of ram.
      -  this effectively means that each rank can be accessed separately foe some operations negating some of the latencies described by the CAS timings,
but only when it data happens to be on the separate banks and only for some of the operations..
      -  dual rank tends to be clocked significantly lower because it's simply less likely to be stable at higher speeds.
it's the same silicon lottery everything else has but there are more variables to account for on dual rank than single rank. SO it's slower....

      -  and the last point ends up negating the first one and then even crushing it when you go past 2666MHz.

Ryzen's uncore, which they called infinity fabric, runs at the speed your ram does and this really affects your CPU's performance so you should aim to get a faster kit to pull full benefit from your system. (no point to go past 3200MHz it's unlikely to work and too expensive)

It will increase the performance especially in games

3.Dont. Get a decent or high end memory like G-skill ripjaws or corsair vengeance or dominator.

NZXT S340 non-elite.  There's plenty of room for all but the biggest cards in there.  I've got about 3 inches between the end of my 1060 (dual fan) and the edge of my AIO's fan.  My only hesitation would be trying to squeeze in a really big card plus a Res for a custom water loop.

I just got mine a couple of weeks ago, and it's been going strong.

    1. I have my R5 1600 clocked at 3.8 and my TridentZ 16GB clocked at 3200, it's been holding that steady for two weeks 24/7 through gaming when I'm home and mining while I'm at work.

    2. It does not have onboard Wifi.  You'd need either a PCI based Wifi card or a USB wifi adapter.

    3. That depends more on your case than anything else.  I'm using a Gigabyte 1060 and it's not sagging.

    4. When I got the board, it was $100 plus a $20 mail in rebate.  This seemed to be the best bang-for-the-buck B350 board I could find.

If you don't plan to overclock if you do I would bump it up to at least 650 watts if you're just overclocking the CPU, and if your dong both the COU and GPU, I would go 750 just to be safe. The higher the overclock the most exponential the power draw.

Honestly, your build is fine with a 550W psu. to put it into perspective, a 6700k with two gtx 1080's in sli will use around 450W. I would find it hard to believe that a ryzen cpu + a 1070ti would be more power hungry (even if overclocked) than the system I just mentioned earlier. If you want to numbers, here they are .

    I personally have a 7700k (overclocked to 5GHz running at 1.37V) and a gtx 1080 (100MHz overclock @ 130% voltage) and that system works fine with a 550W psu.

In short, don't worry too much at a 550W psu, it will be just fine for you your build!

And regarding bottlenecks, I don't see anything major or problematic. A 1070ti will be MORE than enough for 1920x1080, especially at 75hz. You can easily get more than 75fps in most games at ultra settings. A few games with that exception are like gta v, witcher, but even then, you'll be getting around 75fps with your setup and monitor.

If you really think that something is bottlenecking the system, just monitor your cpu and gpu usage and see if the cpu is stuck at 100% while the gpu isn't really reaching full load.
