I would love a video going in depth on surge protectors and related items. It could discuss the different types of technology (surge "protector", "suppressor", "stabilizer", etc), talk about the different use-cases for each type. It could also do some testing of different popular/recommended models, you could have fun with the testing by making a goal of overloading one so much as to make it catch fire.

I work with selling/setting up $20,000 digital sewing machines, and want to research a recommended surge device to protect high-value electronics such as these, and even figure out if it is even worthwhile to buy $100 or $200+ surge devices for them compared to something like a cheap $20 surge protector.

This may not fit under LTT but perhaps its own channel or just for float plane but more business or enterprise content. It could be technology and software to help small businesses, or even something like the current uneasiness with where vmware licensing will go and discussing alternatives that businesses could consider. I enjoy when they do the episodes when they are improving their networking or the storage. Buying the used jbods, etc. Even demonstrating effective strategies for small businesses can use used hardware to give them the computer they need but ideas or guides on dos and donts when going down this path. Cyber Security news, best practices etc. also would be useful but also has challenges.

Maybe I am asking for this content so that I can have it playing in my office and claim it is work related but I would be interested to see a LMG approach to these avenues.

Not sure if there are enough "new" keyboards in this category, but maybe you guys could redo this 4 year old video?

I recently got a Cherry stream ( https://www.cherryamericas.com/stream-keyboard?___store=cherry_us_en ) and I like typing on this better on this €30 keyboard than I did on a €160 mechanical keyboard. I've tried rgb backlit keyboards but to be honest, I'm not sitting in a completely dark room and I type blind, so I've rarely found it necessary.

A deep dive video talking about business tools and softwares that LMG uses and recommends covering something as small as what communication software is better for teams or what cloud storage is good to logistics softwares, accounting softwares, etc.

No. The price difference is not trivial. Even the FreeNAS documentation says "If your system supports it and your budget allows for it"

Unless if your info is mission critical like for a small business and if any errors occurs it would cause a huge monetary loss or disruption in operation No you would not need that for say games, personal photos or even tax info standard DDR works 80-90% flawless and 99% of errors aren't even noticable so you spending exponentially more for that extra 5-9% and a bit more reassurance

Balrog0fMorgoth reacted to Akolyte in Exchange server 2019 error I need urgent help
    Hey mate,

So as stated above, this is most likely a group issue.  But since it looks like a few lines of code are actually showing in the error, this may indicate an issue with a function in code, and might be worth sending to Microsoft at least just for good will.

My best questions to you would be:
What are you trying to achieve?  - this is more in the aspect, are you trying to do this as a lab for yourself, just setting up a mail server for lulz (good experience) or do you want to actually run an Exchange server for clients?  If so, please tell me this is on a non-production server.  What existing roles do you have on this server? - does this server function as a domain controller? RDS Gateway? Hyper-V Server? DFS Server? Are you trying to upgrade an existing version of Exchange server??? What is the platform this server is running on? - Is this server a virtual machine?  If so, on what hypervisor? ESX, Hyper-V, KVM, Virtualbox?   If you are setting this up within an organisation - Is the PC domain connected? what OU is the machine located in? Do you know what policies are currently affecting the machine? Do any of these interfere with the installation/function of Exchange Server.  Just some food for thought, let us know what you know and we'll work with what we work with.

LTT has some pretty big smart minds, so even if I'm not able to help I'm sure someone else will  Cheers bro.

Balrog0fMorgoth reacted to Tech_Dreamer in How to stop hard drive vibration noise?
if you have old unusable optical drive(s) break em apart andas you near towards the centre , you can find rubber grommets that keep the optical drive stable usually there are four . you can use these .

looks kinda like this but color may vary according to where they were assembled,

these are really good at holding the hdd in place (depending on your case) and they absorb other shocks as well and may help extend hdd's life , i had to jam like 8 on my case, to muffle the sound entirely Seriously no freaking sound! not even spin up vibrations, other recommendation would be to put some soft rubber mounts on case holders(legs)

Please talk in terms of Celcius, it just gets confusing, that's what people just talk in terms with.

Also, 55°C is fine, like your GPU is fine anywhere up to 85°C or so.

    Balrog0fMorgoth got a reaction from Tz000 in GTX 970 - Worth it?
Well I've got a gtx 1070 and a 165 hz 1440p display, I just played for a few minutes in Battlefield 1 with the settings on low and the fps was pasted to the ceiling at 165 with less than 80% GPU usage most of the time. So even if the 1070 was twice as good as the 970, and it's actually only about 61% better(see screenshot 177/110 is approximately 1.61), you be able to hit at least 80 fps on a 1440p display. Yes it's capable of hitting your targets but in the long run, you might want to save that money and get a better gpu once Volta comes out. Also you can usually lower display scaling to where it's approximately 1080p in game to get better than low quality graphics.e

if I were in your shoes I'd probably go for the GPU upgrade first, then CPU later if bottlenecking is an issue.

this gives you at least some time to wait for the next-gen CPUs ahaha

You likely wont be able to. PUBG is a horrible game for frame rates, Try and shoot for 50-60 at best.

But if you want to up the frame rates:

    Get an i7
    GTX 1070
16gb of ram (PUBG kills RAM as well)

If that’s all you do it won’t improve anything. I5 6th gen should be more than enough to handle that. I would look at other components that make you feel like it is sluggish.
Ram could be if it’s not 8gb
A gpu, a 1050 ti is a perfect budget card and is more than enough for those games

Balrog0fMorgoth reacted to Jurrunio in When will 1440p be the standard? (Available for $100-200 USD)
Probably in the next 3 years. Once people get 1080p, they start looking for good looking effects before higher resolution. At the same time, making a mid range card, like the GTX 1060, display good looking graphics at 1440p 60fps is still kinda hard pushed.

I'd say next generation of cards should put 1440p somewhere good to go, unless something like Crysis 4 comes out and slay graphics cards like the Crysis did

Balrog0fMorgoth reacted to PorkishPig in New build, games keep crashing soon after launch
I suspected that it might be bad memory, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Try updating to BIOS version F5e for your motherboard at https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/Z370-AORUS-Gaming-5-rev-10#support-dl. There seems to be a patch note describing an issue regarding 1060/1070/1080 graphics cards. If that doesn't help, try uninstalling GeForce Experience.

maybe a low quality psu, but you shouldn't use those anyway.

hardware will ONLY draw as much current as they need.. you could put a 1000000000000w psu in and it would still only use the same draw.
PSU's does not affect performance unless they are bad quality and can't deliver power properly..
