donalgodon reacted to Dedayog in Help. Need some advice on fan usage and optimized placement.
You're fine as you think.
How I would do it.
For clarity: 3x 15's in front, 2x14's in rear/back top for exhaust

donalgodon reacted to suicidalfranco in Samsung Announces The Galaxy Tab S4 - iPad and Surface Competitor
Given the cost and the last year SoC, i would still lean toward an iPad.
If it came with ChromeOS it'd be more interesting imo

donalgodon reacted to wONKEyeYEs in Fractal/CH7/Strix: Will my GPU sag?
No.
But sag's cause is sometimes the gpu io pegs that slot into the case.

donalgodon reacted to seon123 in Is 70C safe for 1080Ti gaming long-term?
Pascal starts to reduce its clocks from 60C, apparently, according to Gamersnexus. So it might help a tiny bit with performance.

donalgodon reacted to i_build_nanosuits in Is 70C safe for 1080Ti gaming long-term?
no it will not change anything at all.

donalgodon reacted to dcgreen2k in Is 70C safe for 1080Ti gaming long-term?
Yes, 70C is fine. I think the max temperature for Nvidia GPUs is around 90C.

I'd wait for the b450 boards at this point, should be about a month more, If not then I'd go for the asrock ab350m pro 4... haven't had a problem at all with mine in the 16 months I've had it.

donalgodon reacted to TheSLSAMG in Tech Youtubers accused of not disclosing Computex Sponsorships
It's absolutely not frivolous if someone is making libelous claims about you and it's getting published in news outlets (VideoCardz reported on it, prompting GamersNexus to sic their lawyer, not to mention HardOCP is entertaining these claims on Twitter.)
Also, sponsorships and being paid for booth visits are different things, and all sponsorships for the Computex trip were disclosed by the named YouTubers.

donalgodon reacted to TheGlenlivet in 2 kits of F4-3200C14D-16GTZR + CH7 Hero?
You should be fine. I did this with a TR4 build and both kits XMP's up to their rated speed with no problem.

donalgodon reacted to AlTech in Ryzen Memory: Tight timings or higher MHz speed?
Some 3200 kits work fine on Ryzen 1st Gen.
2nd Gen can technically handle up to 2933 out of the box without tweaks but of course 3200 is still definitely possible depending on the motherboard and RAM.
My opinion on this probably won't be popular but I wouldn't buy anything above 3200.
And really I'd only buy DDR4-3200 if you're getting a Ryzen 7 CPU. If you're getting a Ryzen 5 CPU then DDR4-2666 should be just fine.

donalgodon reacted to Taf the Ghost in Ryzen Memory: Tight timings or higher MHz speed?
I've yet to see anyone try to do 2933/3000 at super tight timings. Think CL10 or CL11. All Ryzens get the benefit from flat memory clock speed due to running the Infinity Fabric faster, but the biggest results are always with the tight timings given the way it always effect 1% & .1% lows in gaming.

donalgodon reacted to Stefan Payne in Are modular PSU cables reversible?
That would only be true if the Pinout is the Same and the Connectors would have the same Pinout on both ends - wich is mostly not true.
The best Example is newer Seasonic units. They use PCIe Connectors for everythign on the PSU Side.
BUT: They use the EPS Pinout. Hell yeah...
And the ATX Connector shouldn't be connected the other way around anyway - even on Silverstone. Because of Voltage Sense Wiring.
Some PSU have the 3,3V Sense instead of the obsolete -5V on PSU Side (Cougar LX for example)...

With the PSU cables connected the right way? ;-)

donalgodon reacted to STRMfrmXMN in Can I use a 650W PSU with a 2700X and 1080Ti?
If you have a 2700X and a 1080Ti a 650W G3 won't be breaking a sweat.
-
donalgodon reacted to seon123 in Can I use a 650W PSU with a 2700X and 1080Ti?
Yeah, the higher wattage G3s are definitely among the loudest EVGA branded PSUs.
But what are you powering? PSU calculators tend to overestimate by a ton.

donalgodon reacted to Nogghan in Can I use a 650W PSU with a 2700X and 1080Ti?
bottomline yes that is enough watts for your system draw even overclocked

donalgodon reacted to Crunchy Dragon in Can I connect extra SATA data cables and not use them?
Yeah. I'm not sure why you would do this, as it wouldn't do much for your cable management.
I have a rule that I only connect/use cables inside of my PC that I actually need. If it doesn't serve a purpose for my rig, then it doesn't stay in my rig.
-
donalgodon reacted to Lady Fitzgerald in Can I connect extra SATA data cables and not use them?
It won't be a problem and makes perfect sense in your situation. I have done the same.
-
donalgodon reacted to Kc7vwc in Can I connect extra SATA data cables and not use them?
My SATA ports are directly under my GPU so this makes perfect sense to me. Plug them all in now, install GPU, only have to worry about power later on.
-
donalgodon reacted to Ron1999 in Can I connect extra SATA data cables and not use them?
Makes perfect sense BUT are you planning to route the sata power cables as well ??
Saves having to dig around or possibly unplug some other bit of kit .. M-itx I presume ?
-
donalgodon reacted to BlueChinchillaEatingDorito in Can I connect extra SATA data cables and not use them?
I guess if you're planning to add more drives in the near future, it's not a bad idea to have all the cables pre routed before they come.

donalgodon reacted to pitA in X470 Recommendation?
With two M.2, the top video card slot will be at x8 and the second will be at x4.
According to Gamers Nexus, the difference in performance between x16 and x8 is negligible with a GTX 1080:
That was two years ago. I don't know if things have changed since then, or with higher performing video cards.

True that. The best AM4 motherboard in the market.
