My "powerful" computer that I use for photo editing is a 2012 Lenovo T530. Still does the job quite well. I don't intend on looking to upgrade until 2022, and even then I may not if this thing is still running fine.
 
 My other daily driver is a refurb T450 I got last year for $320.
 
 My policy is "Old good tech is still good tech." That's why I'm fine with paying a premium up front if I can be reasonably certain that I'll get a long usable life out of a product.

You only really need newer or powerful hardware if you're doing intensive stuff, like 4k video editing, CAD, higher end gaming, etc, imho anyway.

Honestly, the only correct answer here is the S9.
 
You have a much more open source OS, with more options for customization and apps.
No lets compare head to head
 
Display -  S9 is at 570ppi  vs the iphones 326ppi.  The S9 also has a bigger screen 5.8 vs the iphones 4.7. Not to mention the OLed vs the retinas lcd.
You get a headphone jack still and USB-C which is more popular than lightning.
You get a better front camera  8mp vs the iphones 7mp
The s9 rear camera dual aperture setup is also superior to that of the Iphones. Performance outside of that is similar though
The S9 has a better CPU/GPU setup along with twice the RAM of the Iphone.
 
The only big positive about the Iphone is with the locked down OS and apps... it will be less likely to have issues with something not working or crashing. So it gets a slight advantage when it comes to stability.

Really good at downloading, even download streaming videos, even if phone shut down it can still continue downloading and managing downloads is real good. 

I’m concerned about pickpockets when I’m in a bus or train. The moment I unlocked my phone with a passcode just to text or call someone, the pickpocket near me could’ve seen my passcode by then and once I slipped it back to my pocket, the crook could’ve unlocked my phone. You know pickpockets are very stealthy when stealing. 
 
With Touch ID, I don’t have to type my passcode to unlock it. He doesn’t know my passcode then and if he tries to stick something to my finger to copy my fingerprint, I’d be aware of that. And seriously, who would knock out someone in a crowded bus or train? 

That would be a step back, though. But that's sort of what Apple has been doing lately, replacing an integrated headphone jack with an adapter.

This is one of my absolute favorite things about this forum compared to so many other places. No dirty deletes.

If the conversation that took place can be of use to others we prefer that the thread be left intact. Also if members had the option to delete threads they could simply wipe away comments they don't like or agree with. This is what the report button is for.

Just report it and say you want it deleted and mods should get around to it shortly 

Move: use the report button and tell them that you posted in wrong section
Delete: not gonna happen
I made a topic and later requested it to be deleted through the report button and it is still there. I do believe that one of the mods said that they don't do it. Thought  I don't remember the reason why.

I think it should be pretty obvious to anyone who stops to actually think about this for a second rather than accepting it at face value that this is not and cannot be true, and thus the benchmark must not be comparable across architectures.
 
Of course people on facebook that have no clue are going to see this and just believe it as fact, reinforcing for them how godlike apple is

Geekbench is a bad benchmark You shouldn't compare Geekbench X86 scores to Geekbench mobile scores. 

This is painful to look at... Not to mention the thousands that believed it...

Can we blacklist every Geekbench related benchmark?
