"What are everyone's favorite little known mobile games?" I would consider Pokemon Go pretty well known.

For me I only really play Fallout Shelter or Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Links but those are too well known.

I really like Bloons TD5 (Probably pretty well known) and Narcissu.

Plus I wasted so much time in Oil Tycoon (I think this was the name).

The Quest

Imagine a classic first-person CRPG like The Elder Scrolls Arena or Ultima Underworld. Now imagine it was grid based with turn-based combat such as in The Legend of Grimlock. Now put it on an iOS device, and you have The Quest. This game is fantastic, one of the best RPGs on the platform and definitely the deepest. The base game has at least a solid 50 or so hours of gameplay, then there are over a dozen expansions. Take a look for yourself. Most of the other apps by the developer, Redshift, are The Quest Expansions.

If you do pick up The Quest, make sure it's the classic edition I linked to above. That's the version which is compatible with all the expansions. The game was recently updated for iPads and newer iPhones, with most detailed artwork and a higher resolution. However, this new version only includes the Ice and Fire expansion, not the over a dozen others. It may look prettier, but with the newer version you're missing out on dozens of hours of content.

Space Marshalls 2 is an interesting western style shooting game with very good visuals (high res textures, shadow mapping with self-shadowing, particle effects, etc.)
