Princess Luna got a reaction from Kilrah in COD MW stupid large update files.
The remastered version of the original Modern Warfare that came along side Infinity Warfare holds up extremely well... it was an excellent game, now this new one from the little footage I seen does look like it has different missions, game looks cool for a sit down or two on a free day.
But it's still primarily a competitive online shooter which is not my thing... Maybe I'll pick it here in a couple of years when it gets phased out and nobody cares as much to it but I stick to the wish they'd sell the SP on the side for those who only wanted it.
Either ways the game is indeed *huge* in size... not very in line with the usual e-sports games, even BF5 which looks as good as if not better only takes 50GB so I'll call it on poor optimization and excessively heavy textures / cutscenes.

Princess Luna got a reaction from Vejnemojnen in 3800X vs 3600
There will be very very little performance uplift for gaming since the greatest majority of games only uses up to 8threads and since both the 3600 and 3800X have the same cores in theory they should be equal.
It can still improve a tiny bit though since you have more resources at hand meaning that OS and side/background applications won't fight as much for these resources improving multi-tasking.
You can check this video below for more information.

That's very insightful, thank you for letting us know that this old entry level APU is no longer adequate for web browsing.

Princess Luna got a reaction from Fasauceome in Is hyper-threading better if you dont need those double cores?
Hyper-threading improves the performance of your cores by around 30% being very crude about it... virtual cores are not the same as physical ones but they help and you should use them.

Princess Luna got a reaction from LukeSavenije in NVLink working for Blizzard games?
That is incorrect, RTX cards still uses SLI technology the only thing that has changed is that nVidia has standardize the connectors to the NVLink ones to cheap up on the production line.
NVLink is still a Quadro only technology that offers a lot more functionality than the SLI protocol found on GTX and RTX cards do.

Princess Luna got a reaction from bomerr in 10900k vs 9900k
There's a reason why the i7 6950X was a rare sight and Skylake-X/Cascade Lake-X uses Mesh instead of Ring Bus, 10 cores really is the limit the architecture can sustain and that's already losing most the power efficiency indeed...

Princess Luna got a reaction from TehPlayer14 in is it worth the extra money to get a radeon vii
No, the Radeon 7 is a compute/workstation card not a gaming card, you'll be paying more for stuff you won't use so just go with the 5700XT

@TVwazhere @Princess Luna
turns out the 60Gig update included new maps and a battle royale mode among other things.
meh, still shouldn't have been 60 gigs imo. but i can't rightly complain about free content

Princess Luna got a reaction from LukeSavenije in Seasonic m12ii 620 evo edition
Go for the grey label CX450 if you're going to use mid end parts, something like a GTX 1660 Super build with a Ryzen 5 will work on one and that's a much better unit for likely even cheaper price point.
The thing here is that the M12II is an *extremely* outdated design, it lacks safety features, it has a pretty terrible topology by today's standards, loosen voltage regulations and all that with a rather noisy fan.
It is still sold because a lot of people only care for the brand but this unit in specific is already obsolete in the sense of purchasing brand new, speciall for current day hardware that requires far more clean and stable power to operate.
We have a Tier List on the PSU section that could be useful to you if you want to look at other power supplies other than the CX or maybe just state your currency and place you're buying at... if PCPP is supported it is help locating something.

Princess Luna got a reaction from GDRRiley in Anyone know of a full watercooling solution for a zotac 1070 mini
There isn't any aftermarket waterblock for the Zotac GTX 1070 Mini since it uses a very exotic proprietary pcb therefore demand is incredibly low which leads to nobody really making any as it isn't profitable.
AiO like the alphacool you found might be your only option or maybe just upgrade your card altogether since a GTX 1070 doesn't really require custom water cooling to begin with being honest.

Princess Luna got a reaction from BTGbullseye in 1080ti bottleneck help
Second gen Ryzen was never that good for high refresh rate gaming, there's a reason why people still recommended Intel before Zen 2 release.
You can see below a chart that illustrates it, have in mind the GTX 1080 Ti would sit between the 2070 Super and 2080 Ti in there:
So if you're trying to do 1080p144hz your processor will be a bottleneck even if you improve your memory configuration (which if it is 1x8gb should also be an issue).

The tomahawk would be the better choice.

Princess Luna got a reaction from Mister Woof in Why is Intel still shipping high end CPU's with onboard graphics
These have nothing to do with what OP's stating. These are literally defective products where the iGPU is nonfunctional but the die is the same as their functioning counterparts.
OP If I remember correctly the iGPU actually takes up to 40% of the 9900K die and yes that place could be turned into more CPU cores but then the whole architecture has to change... as we know Ring Bus is pretty much impossible to use past 10 cores reason why HEDT processors like the i9 10980XE uses Mesh instead.
There are other differences applied to the processor to keep thermals/power usage in check, all in all it isn't just as simple as eliminate the iGPU and shove more processing power in there as is and the iGPU still does have good uses like extended hardware acceleration functionality through QuickSync or straight out just a display adapter in case of need.

Princess Luna got a reaction from TehPlayer14 in 2070S with a 1440P ultrawide?
Consoles already uses octacores, have in mind that the OS is different and when porting the game from a console to a PC you'll never have it function the same way.
Not only that the Zen 2 based processor on the PS/Xbox is still significantly inferior, with lower cache and lower core frequency than the current octacore retail chips, so this preoccupation is needless.
Finding a PC game today that uses more than 8 threads is nearly impossible, with only a very very few exceptions like Ashes of Singularity, so with that in mind competent hexacore processors like the Ryzen 5 3600/X and say i7 8700K will remain adequate for high end gaming for a good couple of years yet.

Princess Luna got a reaction from TehPlayer14 in Can I cool the i9 9900k 5GHz (one core) with the NZXT Kraken X41?
I am afraid that an old used 120mm AiO is not what you should be using for an i9 9900K if you want to extract the full potential of the processor.
If you do buy a NH-D15 though then you can run it at 5ghz all day long.
