1080ti bottleneck help

Hey so I recently upgraded to the 1080ti and got a 650w psu to go with it, im afraid that my system might be bottle necked but here are the parts : 8gb 3000 clocked ddr4 ram, Ryzen 5 2600g, 1080ti, looking to play shooters at max settings at 144hz 1080p, pub g, Fortnite, battle field 5, gta 5 etc if any how bad would the bottleneck be and what should I upgrade?

I'd upgrade to something like a 2700x or a 3700x if your motherboard supports it. That 2600g is going to bottleneck that gpu enough were you wont get 144hz.

Think you will be alright. Friend has the same cpu with a 1080 and cpu usage is quite low compared to my stuff. 1080ti isn’t much more than a 1080 performance wise.

The Ryzen 5 2600G does not exist, I assume you mean the 2400G? 

 

Bottlenecks would probably be your ram and CPU.

8GB is plenty as long as you don't have too many background apps open.

 

@Druskiee I suggest you download HWMonitor and leave it open while playing a game. Play for about 10 minutes and what reached 100% utilization.

2nd Gen Ryzen is severely bottlenecked by any single-channel RAM scenario... Also, many newer games do use more than 8GB of RAM.

He never said it was a single stick, and none of the games he listed need more than 8GB of RAM.

Second gen Ryzen was never that good for high refresh rate gaming, there's a reason why people still recommended Intel before Zen 2 release.

 

You can see below a chart that illustrates it, have in mind the GTX 1080 Ti would sit between the 2070 Super and 2080 Ti in there:

 

So if you're trying to do 1080p144hz your processor will be a bottleneck even if you improve your memory configuration (which if it is 1x8gb should also be an issue).

I didn't say there were no cases where it was useful, but that's not his largest concern.

 

@Druskiee We still need you to confirm what CPU you have. The motherboard and RAM model would also be useful.

2600G doesn't exist. Either a 2400G or a 2600. 2600 should be fine, 2400g is a bit meh.
