10900k vs 9900k

I just built my new PC over the Christmas Holiday and have been seeing a lot about the 10900k. Have I just made a huge mistake? I build my new computer with a 9900k, which is still good of course, but I am worried that I am going to be really upset when the 10900k comes out. Is the performance increase going to be really crazy? I suppose I could try and sell the Aorus Pro Wifi and 9900k I just bought last month and buy the new 10900k and z490 mobo when it comes out. Buyers remorse time I guess.

The 10900K and Z490 are not out yet, so we don't know the performance difference.

Your 9900K isn't gonna decrease performance upon a new gen release. If you are happy with the performance now, you will be when the new stuff comes out.

 

I would just stop worrying and enjoy your PC at this point.

The 10900K is an 9900K with a bit more cache and two more cores... not a gigantic change if all you do is gaming and mainstream usage

Probably gonna draw more power and kick out a lot more heat, bringing the potential need for a new PSU/CPU cooler with it.

There's a reason why the i7 6950X was a rare sight and Skylake-X/Cascade Lake-X uses Mesh instead of Ring Bus, 10 cores really is the limit the architecture can sustain and that's already losing most the power efficiency indeed...

I can tell you I'm not even considering upgrading from my 8700k.
