a LOT of people are like that (like most of my family for exemple), but then there's also the enthusiast that would love to fix things by himself when the warranty is over. I completely understand the "want" Apple has, to lock down their product, but it shouldn't be at the cost of the regular Joe that wants in the ecosystem at a reasonable price, even if he's on his own, or the person that wants to keep his old device and go to a 3rd party repair shop.
 
 
But to be fair to Apple, I had a similar experience with HP, where I had a perfectly working laptop, but a dead power brick (yet still under warranty because I just had bought an original replacement a few months prior), yet calls after calls would yield the same replies ; "this laptop is discontinued, you should buy a new one !", even though I kept telling them it wasn't the laptop the issue. I did get the issue resolved, but what I mean is, it's understandable for companies to want their clients to change devices rather than fixing them (after all, that's where the money is).

Tech reviewers review products, not companies which is how it should be.
 
A product should be reviewed in its own right, regardless of who made it. Because to most people brand means nothing.

I hate Apple as much as the next guy, but even I'll admit when they have something decent.
 
I like the iPhone and iPad. I will personally be using an iPad (probably the Pro) for when I start ground instruction classes as a student pilot. I'd also be using it for leisure as well. I don't like smart phones, but if I had to have one, it would most likely be an iPhone (or a Pixel).
 
Why? Because I actually enjoy their mobile experience. I love the capabilities with Android, but I personally prefer a simplistic experience when "on the go".

I love Apple stuff despite all the cons.

So are you actually asking why Linus does his job and gives fair evaluation of products disregarding his bias? Or why he even tries with Apple when those videos are most watched on the channel?
 
Seems to me that you have some issues with Apple, and I have very easy solution. Stop watching Apple related videos.

Not trying to be rude, but it doesn't matter what you or other "techies" think about Apple and their products.
 
Apple is a successful business because they make excellent products that people actually buy. End of story. It doesn't matter if some people think that their customer service is bad and therefore Apple is a piece of shit.
 
LTT reviews a wide range of products, and it's important that their reviews are fair. I'm surprised at how triggered people like you get if they make one good (and honest) review on an Apple product.

are you using chrome? or chromium?

if you are, go to chrome://flags and enable the "Override software rendering list" flag. this will force hardware acceleration even if chrome doesn't detect it in the driver (a common issue on linux)

you do need a new board. the chipsets for 6th/7th gen are not compatible with 8th/9th gen. if you put a 9400f in your existing board it will do absolutely nothing.
