Gravemind reacted to STRMfrmXMN in PSU Tier List [OLD]
Credit to @Starelementpokeand @Energycore for helping out with this long-awaited refresh of the old PSU tier list by Aniallation (who previously went several months without logging in), leaving the old list in need of help. This is simply an update of the list that was flawed in creation by the PCMR subreddit and in dire need of a refresh.

This list is subject to change as new PSUs come out on a regular basis and standards may change or issues with units on the list may develop. A list of PSUs awaiting a tier on this list is at the bottom.

Gravemind reacted to quan289 in Is 450 watts enough for this build?
Yes, the CX450M is based on a more modern design, that is built better, has better electrical performance, better efficiency, has a longer 5 year warranty, and offer modularity. The "50w" extra on the EVGA 500B isn't an advantage at all.

I have psoriasis as well as a sun allergy, both on certain parts of my body. My chest and thighs have ugly—yet totally harmless red splotches. And my arms and torso have a reaction to sunlight, so ever since I was the age of 10~, I've never set foot outside without some sort of long-sleeve attire. It's been so long I can't even wear a t-shirt casually around the house without feeling naked. It makes working much harder for me, since I need to be wearing long sleeves, and I was never good at handling heat to begin with. I've had to pass up on jobs because of it, and that sucks some major shit.

They're overpriced bling rigs that are the most shoddily put together computers I've ever seen.

My friend in Virginia had an Alienware Desktop, and they shipped it with only a 300w power supply despite it having an i7 and a GTS 660 for christs' sake. And he had to have his motherboard replaced 3 times because Alienware thinks that just swapping a mobo will solve everything. And one of the times they did, they didn't even put thermal paste back on the cpu, so that burned up and died too.

My friend in Texas, he has an Alienware gaming laptop, and he gets blue-screens every day and most of them don't even give him an error code. He's had everything swapped out at least twice, and the case is made of—admittedly pretty—but shitty plastic like you'd get from a $1 toy from a drug store.

More or less, if you just want some bulky—but flashy and shiny n00b bling to showoff, and don't mind having a system cost 3x the cost of its actual parts, and customer service that would make the DMV look like saints, then go for it.

Yes it will since its a standard sized PSU case, and that PSU is standard sized (standard meaning ATX)

It will.  I managed a Supernova PSU in that case (barely), which was 6.5" long, opposed to 5.9" like that Corsair.

Yeah, the windows are on both sides.  I liked it for being unique.  It's cool if you're into flashy cases and like to show off everything (even the PSU).  It's one of the cheapest flat tray cases I've come across as well, and easy to open up as you mentioned.  Also manages to still have a 5.25 bay for something kinda on the compact side (it's a little bigger than you'd expect though).

Cons?  Eh, cable management, but you can see what I basically had to do in my pcpp build.

Multi gpu and liquid cooling would be a challenge in this case, and I don't think I'd recommend it.  There's no 240mm for a longer rad, and not really a whole lot of room for it either.  Airflow's good though, and it does well with the cheap crappy fans/stock cooler I have in it.

Basically, not bad if you're on a budget and would like a flashy smallish case.

Side note:  If you want something like that but with liquid cooling support, the thermaltake core may be up your ally.  You're just missing the other window and 5.25 bay.  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811133274&cm_re=thermaltake_cube-_-11-133-274-_-Product
