Fun fact, in the uk the shifters and brakes are the other way around.
Rear derailleur and brake are on the left, front derailleur and brake are on the right. In the US it’s the opposite.

It finally showed up, holy shit. UPS lost this 3 times and mangled it in the process.

1989 muddy fox pathfinder, a cool bike from the UK, in overall fantastic shape considering its 35 years old
this is what I originally ordered, I presumed it was lost so I got my 80’s bike fix with that Marin Eldridge grade, and then this shows up
so now I get to have two sick ass 80’s bikes to ride around

anyway, UPS as I mentioned, mangled this, bent the derailleur pretty bad

this is why derailleur hangers exist on modern bikes, if you smash your derailleur into something you just destroy a little replaceable piece of metal, on old bikes, it bends the whole ass frame
I got it unbent good enough with a big wrench and fire

tore the entire thing down, going to completely rebuild and refurb it

I needed a new external hard drive for backups, so I bought an internal SSD (Crucial P3 Plus) and an enclosure to put it in. I could have just gotten an external HDD for a bit cheaper, but after I learned about making your own external drive from an LTT vid, I thought it was really cool. And this is so fast (especially compared to the flash drives and old HDDs I had been using for backup).

    Summary
Microsoft is now blocking changes to the default browser at a driver level. The driver cannot be removed, and if disabled will be re-enabled upon system restart.

    My thoughts
It is speculated that Microsoft have introduced this to comply with the European Digital Markets Act in order to stop shady practices of other browsers being able to make themselves the default browser outside of Windows Settings. However this driver has been spotted on machines outside of the EU, so that casts doubt on that theory.

Having seen Microsoft make Edge worse and worse in terms of dark patterns and trying to force everyone to use Edge, I feel this is actually yet another mechanism to prevent people switching.

While not being able to change the default browser anywhere other than in the Windows Settings panel is good to prevent hijacking by other browsers or by malware, its an extra step that those who arent that tech savvy may not realise they have to take. Yet another hurdle in the path to using a 3rd party browser.

its worth noting that the same applies to file type associations including .pdf

    My thoughts
Given that it's direct competitor in the market, Rogers, has a 1 year expiry, Telus has 90 days, why is there an expiry at all? So the ISP can free up disk space? So they can force their users to watch the VOD version of the same show they don't have all the episodes to? To force people to watch Netflix or CraveTV if they want to watch the entire series?

Like I've long since complained about Telus's complete incompetence about having any shows on their VOD service. You might click a TV show and you might have the most recent episode and one episode from 2 years ago, and nothing else. The ISP's VOD services are absolutely worthless because they want you to pay for CraveTV, because they directly profit from that.

Given that ISP's no longer even offer local PVR's and you can't buy PVR's that hook up to HDMI (legitimately) is this yet another attempt and destroying media?

If you can't stop yourself from making way too inappropriate Sex Jokes then just stop making them altogether. You'll just end up looking way less professional then you already are and piss off your audience even more.

Maybe get inspired by the Hardware News Episodes from GN. They're very well made, straight to the point, no annoying Background Music and if there are Jokes then Steve presents them in a tasteful and relatable way. Without making it seem inappropriate.

Nearly 20 years after the debut of LiMux, the project where the city of Munich, as well as Lower Saxony, migrated the majority of their computer systems from Microsoft Windows to a custom Linux distribution before being cancelled in 2017, someone else is now ready to take on the challenge. This time, it's the state of Schleswig-Holstein. Citing the goals of independence, sustainability, and security, the state is planning on migrating its 30,000 computers to Linux and other open source software.

Cables. Since I got the Kemper amp, I only used it with headphones. I look forward to rip apart my desk, redo all the cable management and put these cable in there as well. The speaker cable goes from the Kemper to my 4x12 cabinet and the XLR cables go from the Kemper to my audio interface. I'll mostly record the guitar through those XLR cables, but maybe I'll try to record from the cab with my mics sometime too. Honestly though, I just want to jam out on the Kemper with my cab, I like that better than through headphones.

Roku has filed a patent for a system to display ads on the TV screen when a pause has been detected from the HDMI output. It could even detect what kind of content is being outputted so it can serve the user more targeted adds

I can see uses in the technology to detect pauses in the HDMI output, like turning of the TV after a few minutes to save power or to show a screensaver to prevent burn-in on OLED TVs. It is kinda sad that even when you just want to pause something on the TV Roku immediately whant to shove ads down your throat.

So I won't paste excerpt here because of its nature. But my timestamp starts with what it fine (to me). Its very old joke and tied in part to American higher end lifestyle of 90s and early 00s. Also portrayed in media of that era. Its also bit poor taste, but not worst and probably would have been fine (since its about lying/cheating and nothing beyond that). But latter part of that joke goes over, talking about intoxication and what men supposedly do when that happens. With the wording making it sound like what happens does happen regardless of the other person agreeing.

While it might read out like that to all, being intoxicated has been very commonly used as excuse by men when they are investigated for sexual abuse during parties. You can search up some notable cases, some of them are too political to discuss here.
