    You seem like you are not too sure about setting up this server, once you buy it are you going to be able to configure this yourself (install hypervisor, install OS, install and run the game servers etc)? are you getting help from someone? Have you considered the fact that once it's set up and in your home network that your entire network is vulnerable to attacks from the internet? do you have a plan to secure your home network(Firewalls, VLANS etc)?

    This video from Extreme Overclocking Forum shows weekly statistics (weekly amount of points earned) from beginning of 2019 until last week:
    You can see us (LTT team) around 1:50 (we're dark blue).
    Really shows the efforts the folding team here is doing!  And that's even with not everyone getting WU's!

    I've been keeping a close eye on this and am really proud to be a part of this team despite just having a few cpu cores on a laptop to fold with. I have been blown away at the tech community's response to this crisis in general from manufacturers switching to medical supplies, people 3d printing face shields at home, and of course this epic folding at home drive. Today our computers aren't just about p@wning n00bs and max fps, they are about saving the world!

    Hi Metallus97,

    Thank you for the great post, I've followed this through twice now and it's worked both times. Have 2 VMs on 2 accounts setup to run until they run out of credit!
    A few things may have changed since you created the thread though and I am also doing this from the UK.

    The differences I noticed were:
    1. To upgrade account: Top left menu > biling > upgrade bottom right under free trial credit.
    2. Unable to find Deep learning image version you mentioned, maybe it's been upgraded. I used "Deep Learning Image: Base m44 (with CUDA 10.0)" instead of m36 and can confirm working.
    3. I picked the 3.6GB version of the CPU/RAM combination from the start as other users have mentioned 1.8GB may cause application crashes, unsure if this will effect how quickly the credit runs out.
    4. A word of reassurance to other users following the guide without prior goolge compute knowledge: Nvidia driver errored for me but after leaving it for a few minutes it completed and after reboot was working so if it errors give it some time to complete reboot and confirm it's installed.
    5. Also I can confirm what first2mars has mentioned regarding version 7.5.1, I have also installed this version and it is working at the moment.
    6. The amount of free credit you get in the UK is the free $300 which when you look in your billing section is roughly £244.16.

    Edit: Taking a closer look I can see that using the 3.6GB option means it has 4 CPU cores instead of the 2, is this advisable or is there another option that would be cost efficient?

    Edit2: For those that need to edit CPU/RAM amounts you don't need to delete the machine, you can power down the VM and click on the machine name which takes you to a page you can edit the machine.

    Edit3: I have my personal machine with an i7 4790k + GTX1070, 4 x VMs on my server with 4 cores each, sisters desktop with 4 cores and 3 google VMs with P100's and averaging 6.2m PPD

    Agree with Glenalz81, don't bother upgrading your whole PC your CPU is plenty enough for any modern game. You won't notice any speed boosts from a CPU upgrade. Just toss your GPU and get a new one once the RTX series comes out the 1000 series will be cheaper   with a new GPU you should be able to play any game on the highest settings.

    I would say just upgrade your GPU at the moment,  that's where you'll see/feel the biggest gains, prices are dropping fast with RTX almost here.
    The 3570k is still a pretty nifty chip for gaming,  maybe overclock it if you haven't already and get a little extra boost.

    Then enjoy it while keeping an eye on the 9th gen Intel chips price/performance.  Usually best to wait a few months post release before deciding, most often there's a lack of optimisation for new hardware along with some little bugs and teething issues along the way.

    The issue is that when you install windows with two drives the file that contains the boot information is on the second drive. Unplug the WD drive, leaving the ssd in. Install windows. Reconnect the HDD and then change the boot info in the bios. Hope that helps ☺

    I'm not 100% sure if this will work, but even if it did when you RAID two drives together they become the same size as the smaller. So your 2tb drive will come down to whatever your 2 ssds add up to in storage.

    so if both your ssds are 240gb they will be 480gb in total and when you raid it with your 2tb your 2tb will become 480gb as well.

    In that case you're probably better off reinstalling Windows all together. I had a problem like this in the past, I never found the cause but a clean install did the trick.

    If you've got a fairly modern card from Nvidia you could just up and use the built-in Shadowplay feature, otherwise OBS is pretty solid as stated above.

    Correct, here is a good overclocking guide for you to follow:
    http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/41234-intel-haswell-4670k-4770k-overclocking-guide/

    As you can see in the thread here are the settings to change AFTER you've found your stable OC, that will put the CPU in powersaving modes when idling and will save on power and heat and prolong the lifespan of your chip (adaptative voltages and frequencies)

    Haswell Low Power Modes

        •Make sure you are on the latest official Bios!
    •Cpu ratio mode- Dynamic •Enhanced Turbo- Enabled •CPU core voltage mode- Adaptive •CPU ring voltage mode- Adaptive •Intel C-state – Enabled •C1E Support- Enabled •Package C-state limit - Auto
    for windows users also make sure you set your minimum processor state to 5%

    Windows7

    ->Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options\Edit Plan Settings

    -->Change Advanced Power settings

    --->Processor Power Management

    ---->Minimmum Processor state

    -on battery 5%

    -plugged in 5%

    The problem is you're using the wrong program, it's been said over and over again. Don't use prime 95 on Haswell chips... use Aida64! prime95 draws too much voltage causing over heating issues..

    Try that first, if the heat issue is still bad then you can look at doing something to the hardware.
