I was just watching a video about the engineering of the James Webb Telescope.  The cooling system of the most sensitive sensor is using a pulse tube cryo-cooler, which uses acoustic cooling to cool to ludicrous temperature with zero vibration.  It sounds very sci-fi and might be worth investigating.   Then again, it might be really noisy (not a problem in space) and be utterly useless.  🙂

I'd love to see LTT's take (maybe more like a roast) on the status of comment spam bots / moderation tools. (maybe just a wan topic idk...)

Idk if it's just me, but in the last several months I've seen a noticeable uptick in comment reply spam bots. I know this isn't a real new problem, but it does seem like it's getting worse. Maybe it's just for the holiday season, or maybe it's just normal fluctuation in the battle between the bots and the bot-blocking. I follow a bunch of channels, and it's pretty universal: replies to legit comments from sketchy nsfw accounts with exactly the same or very similar comments. It happens generally within an hour of the video going live, and videos eventually get cleaned up presumably by the channel owners over the next hours to days. I've tried searching for creators talking about the issue, and only have come up with a few smaller people (example). Perhaps larger channels are just used to it, and it doesn't seem interesting anymore? A common takeaway is that community moderation is basically broken. How does LTT address this? 1000 monkeys with typewriters in the cellar? Are the official YT tools just misunderstood? 3rd-party auto moderation tools? Can we put some of LTT's more considerable weight behind the issue to try and make it better?

There is an opt out in the settings page of the mod, but it's on by default and there's no warning on installation / agreement informing the user. You would have to find out by going to the changelog on github, or by browsing the settings.

TLDR; my view is: Rule exists to prevent abuse; mod author doesn't think rule applies to him b/c he's not abusing it; gets mad when told he's breaking the rules; gets more mad when others ask why he's so insistent on breaking the rules. why u mad?

I agree that the actual telemetry in question is harmless, but not really the point.

Moved to the PC gaming forum. Internet drama is not Tech News.  Tech news guidelines requires links to reputable sources; your links to discord chat messages (which are not visible unless you join the discord btw) would not qualify as such.

Do some research on how shady as fuck Raid is...advocating gambling to children is a serious no go in my books...but hey...I'm obviously not the only one who harbours that opinion....RSL should of never made an appearance on an upstanding company like LMG's videos.

I'd love to see what non - colorspace stomped footage looked like, bc imao what went to the youtube vid looked like trash. compressing the colorspace would naturally exaggerate whatever unsharp mask they apply along with making colors oversaturated, so I fully believe it looked better in person than what got captured. That said, I'd still like to see a reupload with corrected capture settings.

you guys have an ultimaker, if you want to catch some eyes, 3D print a "miniature" desktop raspberry pi case (clone the design of a define R4/R5 maybe?) and place the pi inside. there's been some really funky projects with watercooling, and even LN2 overclocking a pi. all of these make the device (and your video) seem endlessly more exciting than making a thingy in a 2.25" bay that you can buy off the shelf cheaper either way.

Read your motherboard manual. There should be a jumper to reset your CMOS.
