OnionRings got a reaction from RONOTHAN## in I seem to have lost control of my case fans
That didnt work however the settings > edit sources did, not sure why, but it finally detected all of my fans, I have the CPU in the wrong one its on the pump header so ill swap them, but I was able to FINALLY get control of my 2 intakes and exhaust...

    What a nightmare!!!

I dont know who to mark as solution, technically @RONOTHAN##I think got it in a DM, he thinks my cases hub doesnt have speed control built in, but I swore I had it all working before with my old case and motherboard, mind you my old case was quite literally the same type, I just grabbed the newer one to save some labor, as my BIL was getting my old motherboard anyway.

Not sure how I went from having full control on that one to none on this one but fuck it, RGB is working, speed control is working, eureka!

Edit: and in case anybody was wondering, Yes the hub that came with the case does work as when I unplug the fans they stopped running, and the RGB for the front fans is still working I re Daisy chained The hub back into the other hub to get the RGB to work so there's nothing wrong with the hub.

I followed a guide to clear the registry and reinstalled, it didnt fail this time so heres hoping we're all good, gonna try to reinstall obs now

Edit: OBS worked, looks like it was a registry error, deleting and reinstalling everything seemed to fix it.

OnionRings got a reaction from OddOod in How many friggin 5v rgb do I need??
I know the 12v into two 5s isnt a thing, it was like a metaphor, you obviously can't just shove 12v down a 5v rail, otherwise I could just use the 12v header on the board.

I meant like a converter adapter type deal, something that would like take the 12v and some how step it down if thats even possible idfk.

As far as step 2, I tried to send a video explaining better and showing off my issue but it was too large to fit here, maybe can record and upload to youtube then link or something.

In the meantime, pump lights work, fan lights work.

OnionRings got a reaction from Mechkeys in How do you bind things to macro keys?
I am a complete noob to macros so please explain in dumb dumb. I am trying to figure out how to bind like a phrase or something to a macro key, I have the G1-6 keys on my keyboard, and I have icue, but can't figure out how this works. An example what I want to do if possible, is have the key open my chat in rust and type /tpa so I can quick accept teleports, is that possible or am I thinking too advanced?

I haven't tried BCLK overclocking yet but memory tuning helps a lot.

i got my 7800x3d at 5.1Ghz all core, 5.4Ghz single core with bclk OC on my asus rog crosshair x670e gene.
i know this is about the 5800x3d but i think you can kinda get the same percentage of improvement.

If you dont have any friends or family nearby with spare parts to try, you could buy parts and if they aren't the issue, return them. Amazon has a pretty gracious return window. Its not the best solution but I had to do it myself as I don't have many spares.

I'll check those out. She should be able to fit it, she has the same meshify C I had before you recommended me this beast lian li lol, and if the meshify can fit a D15 I think it can fit that frosty boy.

Yea but isn't it like 110$ now adays? I mean I own one and can atest its good, but its mighty expensive.

My thoughts exactly, she may not want to cough up that much when similar options are available cheaper.

I'll bring those points up to my sister, she may also say no to the NH-D15 just purely out of asthetics, my sister is more into looks over performance, that's why I have to help her or she'd end up with an RGB fest that gets 10 fps xD

Seems to clock low, so wouldnt worry about it in real world. Only run my 3090 on two 6 pins straight to the psu. Mine sits at 1950 for hours. Never had a power issue with my 850watt.

Yes. If my theory about a script in the page to change the playback quality based on local ressource level it would certainly be when the playback mode is on auto which to me mean "use whatever is best at this very moment" and that would be checking the ressources availability and change dynamically the quality.

Your GPU does the video decoding. When the GPU has heavy load during games, the decoding has lower priority. So instead of buffering, youtube turns down the quality.

I personally don't really care what the card was used for in the past so long as it's been taken care of and is in good condition, so it wouldn't matter to me. I've purchased plenty of used GPUs over the years, including some that were absolutely used for mining purposes. I've never had one of those former mining cards develop any issues, and I even have one in one of my primary computers right now.

i mean i would pay more but not that much, with lhr you know that the card is not that old and if it was mined on it was not mined on for long or at 100%

LHR doesn't mean that it didn't mine, it means that it probably mined something other than Eth (at least initially). There were so many holes found in LHR that were discovered relatively quickly that the vast majority of miners didn't care about it at all.

The only thing you can gleam from a card being LHR is that if it was used for mining, it probably wasn't mined on for as long as the non-LHR card. Personally wouldn't look too closely at the LHR status, it doesn't really affect anything about the card.

Yea this is fair for sure, like RE4 just crashes with ray tracing if you go over the limit, and if you turn it off it wont crash but the textures have issues loading, like HU explains in this video
I listed my card for sale on marketplace and im gonna wait and see if I get bites, gonna try to not panic sell at a super low price.

What nVidia had done with with the RTX 3060 Ti/3070/3070 Ti, by limiting their longevity or usefulness for higher res with just 8GB VRAM, they are also doing with the RTX 4070 Ti 12GB. There're a game or two where it's been shown that 12GB is barely enough, even for 1080P or 1440P (I don't remember which). Yes, the VRAM issue can be resolved by reducing or disabling high res texture, but my question is, "why should they?" when the cards are powerful enough to run everything maxed out IF it weren't for VRAM deficit.

The RTX 4070 Ti is a powerful card, same goes with the upcoming RTX 4070, yet nVidia chose to allot just 12GB (their RTX 3060 12GB has that amount of VRAM, same as AMD's previous gen RX 6700XT/6750XT) though the RTX 4070 Ti is much more powerful and deserves more VRAM buffer. I suspect AMD answer to these cards would be the RX 7800 XT, and I'm almost certain it'd have 16GB of VRAM.

Edit - Due to a more sizeable VRAM buffer, the RX 6700 XT/6750 XT/6800/6800 XT/6900 XT would age more gracefully than their competing nVidia counterparts, like honestly, the RTX 3080 Ti 12GB really ought to be armed with more VRAM. The RTX 3080 10GB is beginning to show its weakness, NOT its sheer processing prowess, but the kneecapping of its potential performance through a shortfall of VRAM buffer. All part of nVidia's early obsolescence masterplan....

You could always lower texture details in the games where the highest settings go beyond the card's VRAM. Screen resolution has generally very little impact on VRAM usage, texture resolution is the culprit. I'd rather use somewhat lower details than try to flip a card that's still fairly new.
