I like how you say no other OS comes close, and then only lists things that are available both on Windows and GNU/Linux.
But please enlighten me. In what way is OS X so superior to the alternatives when it comes to software development that the other OSes are left in the dust?
 
 
Trust me, you don't. A lot of the times, companies will go for the cheapest and bare minimum to get the job done.
 
In my experience "out-of-the-box, one size fits all" solutions are usually not as good as managing things yourself. I haven't used Open Directory so maybe I am wrong on that, but a lot of times companies need more custom tailored things to suit their needs than OOTB solutions can handle.

The ASUS mx279h 23 inch is a really really nice bezel and really good screen quality, along with a matte display, and 1080p screen resolution, along with it being in your price range (i would recommend amazon for this one)

I think you need to take into account that Vram doesn't stack, so he will still have the same amount of usable Vram as he would if he only had one card. The 980ti is just about as powerful as a titan x, minus the vram, so there is pretty much no need for it to be SLI.

You probably won't be able to fix the laptop for anywhere near a reasonable price. From what I'm seeing on eBay, the GPU is integrated into the motherboard, and I'm not finding any sellers for major parts like that. It might be time for him to bite the bullet and save up for a new laptop/desktop.

I'm curious to know if PhysX runs better on my GPU or CPU. A lot of people say if your CPU is more powerful than your GPU, then you should set it to the CPU. Meanwhile, other people say PhysX is designed for a GPU architecture, and if you set it to the CPU it will put a lot of unneeded strain on it. Does it even matter what you set it to?

well, afaik .tk is the only free one that gives you a decent domain.
 
aside from that, theres many webhosting picks that cost mere cents per month. and buying your own domain isnt all too expensive either unless you want some fancy domain.
