I noticed something funny with the 1070 and 1080

So I was doing my research on the Nvidia website and I noticed that Nvidia knew exactly what they were doing with the graphics card names. The 1070 has 1920 cuda cores, which reminded me oddly of the 1920x1080 screen resolution. So I went to the 1080 page and saw that they had 2560 cuda cores. This is the screen res for ultrawides, 2560x1080.

I'm thinking there is no way did this by mistake.

The funny thing is the 1070 is best suited for 1440p

I don't think they put that much thought into it or they wouldn't have come out with the GTX 1080; Designed for 4K

It's not that much when everything is based off powers of 2.  There aren't as many numbers available as you might think.

Well in reality the biggest gcf is 512 which is 2^9

As a maths nerd, I can't help but point out they're mostly based on powers of 2, 3, and 5.

 

1920 for instance is 2^7 * 3 * 5
