Kingslayer Kyle reacted to da na in Have I lost all of my data?
Damn, I'm sorry man. That really sucks.
Unfortunately, not much I can say other than always have a backup.
If you're lucky it's just a corrupt filesystem, but I have a feeling the disk is gone.

Kingslayer Kyle got a reaction from da na in Have I lost all of my data?
No, I just turned the PC back on after reconnecting the sata/power cables to the drives and putting it all back together. First thing windows said on startup was "Repairing D:" So I just left it alone, assuming it would be fine but nah, deleted all of my stuff there's like 10% of the folders left, some are empty and some other files are 0KB but they used to contain data. It's probably dead Idk was just hoping there was something I could've done because I've lost a huge amount of personal files here. Trying my best to just not care but this is absolute pain lmao

Kingslayer Kyle reacted to LapsedMemory in Wireless repeater
You're probably better off getting a cheap switch and putting the repeater and your PC into their own ports on the switch.
As for a wifi repeater, what's your wifi router? That may depend on what type of repeater or access point you want to buy.

Noctua makes very good coolers, so you made a fine choice! Happy building

Kingslayer Kyle got a reaction from TVwazhere in Corsair SPEC-05 and Hyper212EVO
Hey,
Thanks for the reply and the recommendation.
After some research I ended up going with a Noctua NH-U9S, I saw some benchmarks and it outperformed the 212 EVO.. It's also 125mm tall so I'll have plenty of room. Also doesn't overhang the RAM slots either as I have tall RAM.. Was a bit more expensive but seems worth it and yeah swapping the case would be a nightmare as It's a big box. Have returned the 212 EVO to Amazon so all is good

I don't really keep myself in the loop to be very honest.. You're probably better off going looking up some reviews.. I know that some of the higher tier Corsair power supply's are decent, such as the AX one's and EVGA has a very good reputation when it comes to PSU's.. I would definitely recommend getting something that's at least gold though maybe have a quick look on youtube "Best PSU's 2018/2019" or something

Kingslayer Kyle got a reaction from TheGlenlivet in ASUS Laptop dead?
I've already thought about it, I just couldn't be bothered because I'd have to remove the full motherboard and I've had a hard day at work lol
I'll try it and see if it works when I have the energy

Lol yeah that works,
Humble Bundle is also a really good website for discounted games, and some of the money goes towards donations for charity

I don't think it's a monitor issue because it would only be visual to yourself, and you can see it on screenshots?

Kingslayer Kyle got a reaction from minibois in Apple MiniDP to DVI work on PC?
Yeah, there's probably not much difference in quality but startech one's were like £10.. and no brand's were £6.. I got the apple for £5 and it should've been £30 so.. It's a win I guess.
And yeah,
I have the Palit GTX 970 (Not the Jetstream one, It has like a reference/blower style cooler.)
https://www.scan.co.uk/products/4gb-palit-gtx-970-7000mhz-gddr5-gpu-1051mhz-boost-1178mhz-1664-cores-dvi-mdp-mhdmi
On the product page it only shows 2 Mini DP's but my GPU has 3? Weird

GTX 1070 on a 1080p monitor 1080p would literally be a bottleneck for GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 can easily handle 1440p but since you want it at 144hz which means high framerate I think 1070 would do perfectly fine, check out the 1070 benchmarks on LTT it literally goes up to 150fps on some games at MAX settings amazing!

Kingslayer Kyle got a reaction from Cakebring3r in need recommended parts for dedicated itx ps2/and others emulator
What I would recommend then is the smallest and cheapest case that you can find, A case/psu combo if possible, then you have a few options, you could either pick up a cheap modern CPU or you could go to eBay and find like a quad core socket 775 cpu, the only problem with the older 775 cpu's is cooling as they generate more heat, so a half-decent cooler would be necessary, you could use a low-profile one to go with the case, but will still get you more performance for less money if you go for older components, then literally any hard drive and 4 or 8gb's ram and you could also pick up a used gpu from eBay, you could go for something as old as a GTX460 or 560 which are very cheap these days, again.. depending on what you're playing, what resolution you're using and if you're using HD textures or not.

I like the idea behind this, although the software that you're going to be using is still in development.. There's something called 'Ice' that allows you to add Emulator games to your steam library, and with this you'd be able to just use Steam in big picture mode and run it from start-up, You can then also use your controller to navigate the menu's, etc.. and you'll be using the emulators that have been stable for years,
As for the hardware situation, are you looking for a case like the Corsair 250D or something smaller than that?

Kingslayer Kyle got a reaction from Cakebring3r in need recommended parts for dedicated itx ps2/and others emulator
It depends on what you're going to be running, for example Playstation 2 and Gamecube games (PCSX2 and Dolphin) will struggle to run without a dedicated card. However if you're just playing SNES games then yeah the onboard gpu is fine for that.

Steam big picture mode has never been a problem for me, but i agree with you on the Steam OS, there's very limited support there, but if you did it with Steam in Windows you wouldn't be limited with support for games, you'd pretty much be able to run any emulator you wanted to. It's definitely achievable, but like i said in the above post you would definitely need some sort of dedicated gpu for the more demanding platforms e.g, PS2, Gamecube and maybe even N64 with HQ textures, If you want a really small case then I'd just recommend having a look around and seeing what you can find that's compatible with your hardware and small enough for you, the components aren't really a problem as you can leave those until last if your highest priority is the aesthetics.
