Corsair SPEC-05 and Hyper212EVO

Kingslayer Kyle

Hey,

Bought this case and cooler.. before noticing it was off by 9mm, Can anybody confirm if they have tried fitting a 212 evo into a SPEC-05 and if clearance was an issue or not?

Have searched Google and can't find anything at all other than the max cooler height of the case and the height of the 212 evo.

Thanks.

It wont fit. Builds on PCPPicker are using either a low profile cooler, an AIO or the stock cooler that comes with their CPU.

You could fit it in the older SPEC-04 because the case's side panel had a pressed out acrylic side panel. The TG version still has the same issue as the SPEC-05

If you're able to return either of the parts, I'd recommend returning the cooler (since that's easier packaging wise) and getting an Arctic Freezer 33 Esports One (NOT the 34) or a Cryorig H7

(33 Esports comes in many colors)

Hey,

Thanks for the reply and the recommendation.

After some research I ended up going with a Noctua NH-U9S, I saw some benchmarks and it outperformed the 212 EVO.. It's also 125mm tall so I'll have plenty of room. Also doesn't overhang the RAM slots either as I have tall RAM.. Was a bit more expensive but seems worth it and yeah swapping the case would be a nightmare as It's a big box. Have returned the 212 EVO to Amazon so all is good :D

Noctua makes very good coolers, so you made a fine choice! Happy building :)
