Sup guys,

Trying to fix a laptop for a family member,

Last thing I did was in the bios, changed the boot device to the USB so that I could reinstall windows, after restarting the laptop has a black screen and is not responsive.

Just shows the power led when the power button is pressed and you can hear the dvd drive power on, the button for the dvd drive works and it opens and closes so power is being given to the laptop.

However, no fans are spinning on the motherboard, tried removing the internal battery to see if it powered on using just the wall power. However this was unsuccessful.... Any ideas?

Thanks :P

So you can't even get to the splash screen to get back into bios?

Unfortunately not

just to make sure, you have removed all peripherals and additional drives?  USB, Monitors, keyboards, everything?

You said you were unsuccessful in removing the battery, or removing the battery didn't change anything?

Removing the battery didn't change anything and I didn't have any peripherals plugged in :(

If you're feeling brave, you could pull the CMOS battery and reset everything.  I don't see another option if there is no image on the screen at all.

I've already thought about it, I just couldn't be bothered because I'd have to remove the full motherboard and I've had a hard day at work lol

I'll try it and see if it works when I have the energy :P
