I assume that would be rather unlikely as the AMD's entire CPU stack based off Ryzen are all architecturally very similar from what I understand. Therefore the issue would most likely persist across all their CPUs if it is an issue in the architecture. For AMDs sake I hope it is an issue that can be fixed with a firmware update or AMD's reputation in the professional space could be quite seriously affected.

The thing is, David Cameron had a similar idea of banning encryption, but did a U turn when, I presume, someone sat him down and told him what encryption actually meant, which is understandable and somewhat commendable to Davey C.

May, however, is fucking hellbent on this shit. If she goes through with it, there'll be protests countrywide.

Very very promising CPU with hot price. Looking foward enthusiast war. Intel you impressed me this time. Gj, you've didnt impress me since Skylake reveal.

It's a bit of a catch 22 really. Developers are reluctant to develop software that can use multi-core architectures efficiently because the CPU market is stagnated at quad cores on the desktop and dual on mobile (laptops). Therefore there is little reason to purchase or want higher core count CPUs.

The problem is that to get more performance we have to add cores. We had the same problem in the 2000s where everyone thought we could just keep increasing clock speed but realised it wasn't possible so the industry moved to dual and then quad core CPUs and introduced hyperthreading/simultaneous multi-threading.

From the point of view of a game developer, if you look at the steam hardware survey, the vast majority of gamers are running quad core CPUs most of which have relatively high clock speeds as a result. Developing software that can scale properly on multiple cores is immensely difficult not only from a technical viewpoint but also in mindset. True parallelisation is a massive paradigm shift and ultimately you can only break down a task so much keeping in mind the synchronisation you have to do across cores with games due to their dynamic nature.

After their attitude this last nearly decade and their complete and utter disaster of a launch with this newest series, I can confidently say that won't happen.

Intel has been digging this hole for a long time now, and now we dont have to keep holding on to their hand to stop them from slipping down it. AMD has come back from vacation and is giving us exactly what we've been demanding now for years, more cores on the mainstream platform.
