Not to steal this post but mine just stopped as well. Same symptoms. The green sound bar in playback devices moves but no sound. But works through the headphones. This is strange.

But the one thing you have to remember is that Evga beats them all when it comes down to the warranty for us water coolers. I don't see Msi, Asus, Gigabyte, or  the rest letting us remove the cooler slap a block on it and then return it if something ends up going wrong.

    Nice Catch.
Edit: Take that screw out and see if the Pcb lays back down. If it does you might need a longer screw.

The Mnpctech support bracket works great. I am using it on my water cooled 980ti Classified. Make sure you buy the Riser kit to raise the bump stop higher. It wouldn't reach my block without it. Also you will have to buy 1 screw. 10-32 I believe it was. The one that goes through the bumper isn't long enough with the 4 extra washers installed. I've had the Puget Bracket before and I can tell you the Mnpctech version is better IMO.

Remember that the 295x2 Can/Does throttle. So even if the temps stayed Fair the performance would be less than if cooled by a bigger rad.

shawn finkenstead reacted to W-L in Radiator Thickness Help
Thickness does help but is marginal compared to longer rads and cheaper, where you can have a 60mm thick 240mm rad a 30mm thick 360mm will out perform it. The difference a thick rad makes is usually only at most 5C at load to a thin one, there are other factors also like FPI (fins per inch).

Finally got my first custom loop under my belt. For those wondering about The temps because I ran it Parallel Cpu and Gpu stay under 50C while gaming. Going to start Ocing my Gpu again and will see where the tamps fall and will update this post. I have 1 more Darkside Uv strip coming. That 1 strip just isn't bright enough. Next step is Custom Cables.

I am pretty sure they are on 2101 for Bios.  So I would update.
After you update then do a restore to default then start over.

I have the same board and chip OCed to 4.5 with no problems.

If you still have the stock Intel cooler. Try to mount it to the CPU. So the loop only cools the GPU to see what happens.

shawn finkenstead reacted to kangk81 in Mobo went swimming and survived
Hi, I think this is my first ever post on the LTT forums so I thought I would share what I have been through over the past 2 days.

I went out and bought a bunch of stuffs to fix a slow leaking rotary joint and took the chance to change my rad from 30mm to 60mm. Went home drain, dismantle, install and all that finger tearing stuff.

It was 11pm at night during the filling process, that I realise there was a puddle on the floor and the VRM fitting was wide open and there was a mini fountain.I have been through this and it took out the mobo, RAMs and CPU, now it was the 2nd time.

But it was different this time, I remembered my lesson 1 year ago and removed the 8-pin CPU power and 24-pin ATX(I was using it to jump start the PSU) prior to filling so there was absolutely no power going to the mobo. However it was late and I was feeling tired and defeated, I left the rig swimming in a puddle of coolant and went to sleep.

The next morning woke up, had breakfast, shat and started tearing everything apart, I removed every detachable component on the mobo and took it to the bathroom and gave it a gentle shower. Then out comes the canned air and the major droplets were gone. Then I gave the now naked mobo the hairdryer treatment for 30mins. After I finished i left the mobo laying and went for lunch.

After lunch I came back fitted everything full the loops and it's back in action.

Lesson learnt: disconnect all power to your mobo so if it goes swimming you can take it for a shower and save it

Yes, set your DRAM voltage to what it says on the sticks, 1.2volts for your kit. You also need to manually key in the speed, ie 2666mhz, and the timings 16,18,18,35. If that does not work try setting voltage to 1.25.

shawn finkenstead reacted to turkey3_scratch in Z170 vs X99
I agree X99 is not best suited for gaming, but what baffles me is all the people who buy a 6700K for gaming with a GTX 970. They could drop the 6700K to a 6600K and just get an R9 390X or GTX 980 with the money saved.

An I7 is not meant for gaming, and when strictly speaking of I7-oriented tasks, X99 is far better for the money. So many people need to get the idea that there are more to computers than gaming out of their heads. An I7 is intended to work with heavily multi-threaded tasks, and the 5820K crushes the 6700K.

In short, no. You shouldn't try to cool multiple components with a single-fan radiator. You'll need a dual-fan radiator at minimum, whether it's a 240mm or 280mm radiator.
