I cant decide. I've been looking at the new Dell 1440p monitor with Gsync and looking at the new Asus/Acer ips 165hz Gsync monitors. On one hand I know the ips panels look better but damn the ips panels that I am looking at are $230 bucks more. Maybe you can help me pick!!!

There's no need to get a monitor that's 165hz. It's nothing more than a gimmick. With that said, IPS is the only way to go imo.

Guys I know Ips is way better but I am gun shy because of all the QC issues I have seen with the new monitors from Acer/Asus. Just going to hate going through 3 or 4 to get a good one.

Does the monitor you buy have to be high refresh rate?

I would also go for the IPS panel. The richer colours and better viewing angles will lead to a better visual experience in video games and other purposes.

So save some money and get an eizo monitor. Simple solution if you don't mind paying the premium.

G-SYNC or not, I would definitely pay the premium for IPS. However, I'd also say this depends on what experience you're after and what games you play. For competitive CS:GO (and that's basically it), no need to spend the extra on IPS as that game looks like a potato anyway. For basically anything else, IPS.

Acer Predator XB271HU I decided to go with this one mainly because the Asus version was out of stock. Lets hope I don't need 4 to get a good one.

Hey you guys what's the best way to check for back light bleed? This will be my first IPS panel so want to make sure I really check it out.

I'd genuinely pony up the extra money for the IPS panel - it's a huge benefit over TN in terms of colours and blacks. It's awesome.

It's actually not any better at displaying blacks, IPS and TN both have contrast ratios of 1000:1

Have your room pitch black and then just a pure black screen on your monitor is a really good way to see how the back light bleed is. Just remember all ips panel have some bleed. I have never tried to look for bleed on my current ips and ive never noticed any.

Got the Predator up and running and WOW. All the extra space with 1440p is nuts. Got to check out 4k someday lol. But so far so good with the Predator sitting at 165hz and waiting for nightfall so I can check for BLB.

Looks like they got the Qc figured out with this sample. If they keep the BLB to a minimum like this one has I doubt anyone would return one. I will update this post tomorrow with the build date of this monitor after I hang this from its Vesa mount.

Alright build Date of this Monitor is Dec 2015. Also a side note the speakers on this actually sound alright for what they are. A lot better than the ones on my Aoc. The Bass is Neutral at best but the sound is really good. I actually use them instead of using my headphones all the time now. I would recommend this monitor. Hopefully you get one with a build date around mine or newer. Acer Predator XB271HU check one out if you can.
