TymmVonD reacted to Goodman2265 in should i use hd textures?
I use the word at school when talking to friends, well because simply the fact that ghetto people are starting to go to my school and by "ghetto" you know what I mean. And all you hear is them saying that word.

TymmVonD got a reaction from X1XNobleX1X in "We couldn't complete the updates undoing changes"
I went through it just last week to better integrate a new SSD. Honestly wasn't too big a hassle like a disc install that takes 30min then all the updates which takes around 2 hours.

TymmVonD got a reaction from WatsOnTV in AMD FX 8350, worth it?
Passmark gets their performance numbers from users. Not stock for stock. So there are lots of OC'd runs in there. I'd say especially for the 8350. I know I did back when I ran one. Havent once ran passmark since only running i7s. What does that say? Could be nothing. Could be 8350 users running benches to make them feel their cpu is still relevant in comparison. I don't know...
What I do know is that the single threaded performance on the 8350 is lacking compared to any CPUs in the last 3 years even. It is extremely power hungry. Aside from a very few AM3+ mobos, it lacks common modern functionalities that current boards have. Has last gen PCI-e, no sata express, no m.2, usb 3.1/type C, possibly more(?).
With tech making the jump(finally) to 14/16nm, performance is gonna jump up big time. Leaving everything else behind. Don't buy into AM3+ in 2016.

TymmVonD got a reaction from MZ Farhad in PC not as fast as it should be (maybe)
I just read through 3 articles stating that YES, a slow HDD can affect FPS minimums depending on application and how the engine requests data to feed the GPU.
"If you have a slow HDD, you will have very slow loading screens and you will have many more FPS drops and skips, this is because in game, the hard drive is not giving enough info for the GPU to process which forces delays to take place. The hard drive most of the time continuously feeds info to the card because most game maps contain over 1GB-2GB of space and the HDD must replace the old memory that no longer needs to be used with new data, the data that will be in use."

Running it now. So far, I think you're right. Running on an SSD, the minimum is still very low but the max is over 100. I think he has Vsync on.

Core. Memory is not really a bottleneck at the speeds we currently have available.

There's an Asus^^^^
I can vouch for B&H. I bought both my 980 Tis there at different times. Good site. Just don't try to order on Saturday. They're old school Jews and close checkout on the Sabbath.

3. As soon as I left this post yesterday...the very next post I read was a member needing rec on a new mobo because his psu died and killed it. It happens.
I personally had a CX 600 running 2 7970s on an FX 8350 rig. Flirting with the voltage limit. I had already ordered my hx1050 but decided to run it for the 2 days I waited. I gamed without any noticeable issues other than the fan running 100%. I did notice when I moved the mouse, I'd hear buzzing/coilwhine. After that test I booted from my os disc and my ssd dissapeared while installing the new os. After all day of transferring drives around, I finally got windows 8.1 installed. With Kingston on the phone, we found the ssd was dead. So, got into BF4 and complete loss of power. Spent the ENTIRE day getting my system ready and excited for crossfire and new os then major failure. Couldn't POST. FML. Got a new mobo one day shipped. Arrived same day as PSU. Fingers crossed, haven't had a major failure since.
Could've been a power surge, but I know I was within the rated limit. Just as strongly as I recommend backing up important files, I won't skimp on a PSU again.

Having it be efficient when under heavy load is more important than being efficient while idling since the amount of power saved (or lost) due to efficiency levels will be much greater during heavy load.

TymmVonD reacted to shermantanker in Homefront The Revolution release date leaked (maybe)
Super looking forward to this game. I love Crytek's games, and I just hope that not much was lost with the roller coaster the game has been through. For those not familiar with the situation Crytek bought the Homefront brand from THQ during thier bankruptcy, and then sold the IP and development team to Deep Silver last year due to financial issues of their own. The game was original scheduled for a late 2015 release, but was delayed to 2016 due to the sale.
The game is set a few years after the original Homefront, and is a Farcry'ish open world game this go around from the looks of it. Here is the last bit of gameplay we have from from Crytek.

@SurvivorNVL
If you're going to start drinking hard liquor, there are a couple things I feel I should recommend.
1)Start with a mixed drink: Rum & Coke, Vodka Tonic, Dirty Martini with GOOD Greek Olive
2)Start with the top shelf to avoid hangovers (If you're drinking anything lower than Absolut for Vodka, Bacardi Gold or Ronrico for Rum, Wild Turkey American Honey or Whistelpig for Whiskey, etc. straight, you're making a mistake that you will feel in the morning.)
3)Drink an equal volume of water to booze
4)Start sobering up before you fall asleep.
5)Don't mix beer and hard liquor in one night. You will regret it.

Seriously why is this Jen douche walking around in a leather jacket? He thinks he's a rockstar or something? He looks like a bully with a midlife crisis. I guess that describes NVidia's proprietary anti consumer strategies quite well.
None the less, hopefully they will talk about Pascal and put some numbers up there.
