Kirihuna got a reaction from harrybamber8 in Dunno if that has ever been posted here before, but suggestion for Linus?
I've been gone for the most part here off and on for a few months so I don't know if this has ever been posted or talked about but I hear me out.

Linus is looking to move into a new place for LTT to film and such and mentioned that he's hired a few new people since starting LTT, which is a contributing factor to why they need a bigger space.

Now, Linus does MOST of the reviews. Slick comes in a does some, Tech Quick is now by another person (sorry, forgot his name haha).

What if LTT had a review for a specific section of technology? For example, Anandtech which I love to read, has certain people for certain reviews. Some for PSUs, some for cases, some for laptops, some for Apple products, some for mobile. Like their own area of expertise. Now I know they have done some of this for awhile (like Slick with the latest mouse and keyboard uploads, etc)

Why not have say Slick do Mechanical Keyboards, Mice, GPUs or other things he's really knowledgeable at?
Linus doing things such as cases, CPUs, and PSUs?
    Someone for displays?
Hell, maybe even someone for games since they already do benchmarking.
Have maybe another team member do phones, because lets be real phones are a big part of tech right now and there are very few reviews of them on LTT. (Or hire MKBHD to do Phones for Linus? heh)

I say this because Linus does 90% of the videos, if not more. I like Linus, I really do. Linus can't do everything, even if he wants to. But I feel like they could do more videos without losing quality, more often, with more products if they had members focus on certain areas. Some of it also has to do with getting things from manufactures.

Just my two cents featuring wondering and thinking.

Been hella busy. Trying to learn Python, C, and C++ simultaneously now D:

I have not, that would be a pain in the ass to get the thermal armor on. Would the CMOS even be a problem? I would see other things besides just this.
Haven't reflashed the BIOS, there probably is a BIOS update somewhere.
CPU fan header is in the primary prongs.

#1 - LTT became LMG. A company and there is now a whole lot more going on.
#2 - The content of the videos is fine. Once again it is a business and they do need to make money. This is just nit picking on your side.
#3 - Release bandwagon.. This. Is. Their. Jobs.. The companies send the product out to be reviewed.. To them all... It's their jobs.. So of course this is going to happen. Other things come out of their pocket.
#4 - It's just a tech show. These are people in the community and often requested by this community.. So once again.. This is just nit picking on your side.
#5 - PAX is a pretty big deal in the tech world. Games, tech, etc. It would be stupid to not cover this since people have their preferred method of seeing it. I for one, only watch LTT coverage and not Tek, etc. So point there.
#6 - There really isn't much out there to cover this area. Things have evened out. With the increase of people doing reviews, I'm sure the product companies willing to send out has also become pretty neutral. He does a damn fine job of bringing what the community wants to see and not what you, as a single person, wants.

Can't please everyone. Also providing different products as in #2 will help appeal to others.

Kirihuna got a reaction from pcman2000 in 12-inch Retina MacBook Air coming soon without fans and mechanical trackpad buttons
It will. No fans = less battery used to power them and scaling them. Also, Apple is big on IGZO (as seen in the iPad Air) IPS displays. So we'll likely see that with a smaller battery and achieve the same battery time.

Default in Mac OS X, there is no right click. So really, you know when you're clicking or not.

It is awful, when compared to Samsung's competitor to the Air is 3200x1800

Every time this topic comes up, I say the exact same thing.

Majority of computer users are only into media consumption. Tablets and mobile platforms really shine. I'd even go as far as guaranteeing that Laptop/Tablet hybrids would be the go to option for majority of consumers (I recommend them for anyone looking for a laptop, after gauging their usage scenarios), because they provide the best of both worlds: power, mobility and an optional touch interface.

Content creators will still need workstations and desktops - which will most likely be replaced by cloud computing, simply accessing a cloud-hosted OS/virtual machine through a thin client . Network technology is already adequate to handle that, at least, for enterprise applications. Consumers still get the shit end of the stick now, but that'll also change in 10-15 years. Mobile platforms are already starting to improve their touch interfaces to allow for content creation (video and photo editing are possible on tablets, digital painting is too). It obviously still needs more time to mature, but that's all it needs. Time. And higher performance mobile hardware (Intel is more than happy to oblige). If Desktop/workstation-grade hardware becomes available in mobile form factors, desktops and workstations will cease to exist - laptops can simply be used with a docking station to get the desktop experience.

Gaming desktops are and will always be a niche. If Nvidia GRID advances further and ISPs remove the pipe out of their asses (or are forced to), cloud gaming will become mainstream and custom built gaming rigs will go the way of the dodo.

Mobile platforms (laptops, tablets, convertible hybrids) are really the future. The only thing they don't have is performance (relatively speaking, laptops are still good for most content creation purposes, just not heavier stuff like graphics/video rendering), but that IS changing.

Kirihuna reacted to LAwLz in 64 Bit-Octa Core? Blackberry thinks so.
People said the EXACT same thing about desktops when we reached single core 1GHz CPUs. Hardware needs to come before software that takes advantage of it...
The only reason why phones aren't used for productivity is because they are not powerful enough.

Completely wrong. 64bit ARM processors aren't just an extension of 32bit like we saw on desktops when we started using x86_64. 64bit ARM processors has brand new instruction sets and general purpose registers.
We should see a ~10%-20% performance increase simply from moving to 64bit in phones. That is without taking any architecture improvements into consideration. If you take the new crypto libraries into consideration then we will get over a 500% (yes, that is 5 times as fast, or more) increase (in those scenarios).
64bit in phones will be a fantastic upgrade, and I can't wait for it to happen. Hopefully ART will support 64bits so we can kill two birds with one stone (move to 64bits and kill of the awful Dalvik runtime) on the Android side.

Don't really care for Blackberry but it's nice to see that they at least try to compete spec wise. They really should have just made an Android phone though...

It's probably big.LITTLE. So it has 4 really powerful cores that use quite a bit of energy, and then it has 4 small cores which are very efficient but fairly weak processing wise. You can throw stuff like background updates, music playback, call handling etc on the small cores, and stuff like games and web browsing on the big cores.

You can get a Honda Civic Si and that's a sports car. Or you can get an Acura car. One costs more than the other due to branding.
