  1. Has anyone here visited Canada from the UK and used public transit? Curious how the seat sizing compares.

  2. I don't get why there isn't a larger push on manufacturers to curb plastic waste. All the little things consumers are doing, great. Some items come wrapped in 6 different plastic bags. Want to make a big impact, go after manufacturers.

  3. Moondrop is making an audiocenteic phone?! Much intrigue.

Also putting two headphone jacks on a phone is audiocentric now? Is having two displays movie-centric then?

Moondrop is a IEM and headphone manufacture so its given its a audiocentric phone.

I guess that means it does nothing different than any other phone, but it's gonna be filled with dumb audiophile marketing bs.

no, well that's your opinion. its basically a powerful amp. Most converter chips are enough (except what was in acerkun but I think that chip was broken).

but yeah audiophile stuff is a fine line of werid to normal. Heck even pro level gear can get weird fast.

  4. While I think TikTok is a dangerous platform, I don't agree with the US "sell it to a US company or leave" move. If you want it banned, ban it, but giving the terms of selling it to a US company just seems cringy.

if only they could just ban shorts. single handedly ruining just about everyone's attention spans

At least with Shorts, there's some sort of useful filtering for quality, TikTok doesn't seem to care about quality. There's all these people out here going "if they ban TikTok, I can't make content anymore!"

Reality check: if your content can't be successful without an addictive algorithm, you are probably producing very low quality content and shouldn't be a content creator.

That's true, specifically the stupid videos with subway surfers underneath them, and stolen clips from podcasts. Just so sad.

Generally, I'm fine with the attention keeper side/bottom content, I've got ADHD so it gives enough extra stimulation to be able to process better.

It's the mind numbing brain melting low quality that's like cringe dances, harmful "pranks", and videos that are promoting harmful behaviors that I have the biggest issues with. We've already rotted out the brains of a whole generation worth of people and are just now realizing that it might be a problem (for the wrong reasons) and attempting to take baby step actions toward it.

  5. $600 isnt much of a budget for a watch and a phone. I'd just stick to Apple. Or, check out OnrPlus; they might be within reach for a 12R plus their watch.
  6. The fact that there's any drama at all over MKBHD's video title is....pathetic.

I must've missed it, I don't see anything in the comments either. At least, nothing at the very top that's visible.

There was a long Tweet from someone about how MKBHD was just trying to sink a startup etc etc

      Yep.

Every shit points on a product should be called as is, as well as every good points.

The company behind the pin might have a hand in making some peoples shitting on MKBHD review.

The one on-board probably try to gain more traction for themselves by bashing a big tuber too.

As for the pin itself :

Would be fun watching people who uses that pin to call someone in a crowded place.

Either you say the name out loud, or you "press" digital buttons slowly, which makes people behind ya can see every damn thing.

  7. Definitely wasn't the smartest route to go.
  8. Depends where you live. Pricing varies wildly depending on your location.
  9. Anyone have reasons not to move to the UK?

Ah - that's why I was confused. Dizmo is Canadian, so the comment made zero sense in the context of the post.

      UK outlets (230V x 13A = 2,99kW) are lower wattage than mainland european outlets (230V x 16A = 3,68kW).

The UK has lower wattage outlets than my home country.

      That's what I meant.

Fair enough. It's a pretty small difference though all things considered. If you need more than 3kW on a single residential outlet, you should be using a dedicated or high amp circuit. Us North Americans are stuck with ~1500W at the outlet for a standard residential circuit.

I'm probably going to talk to an electrician about swapping the B16 breaker I'm on for a C16, which takes longer to blow and will have a better chance with the inrush currents I cause.

Is this on your residential circuit at home? What kind of equipment are you using where you're having an inrush problem?

I'm not familiar enough with other standards to give much of an opinion here other than talk to an electrician about the problem you're having and ask their advice on the proper, safe, and to code way to solve it.

    It'll have better PPI than a 1440p 32".

    I wouldn't go below 4k personally, but I'd also look at a 43" monitor for 4k.
  12. You can do it either way, it kind of comes down to what you want to buy and how you want to work it. I'd just get a case that has controllable fans built in already.
  13. £770 is a drop in the bucket compared to any PR grievances they'd go through if it started to gain exposure. This is less than peanuts to them. I've written off larger amounts at a paint store.
  14. eBay is a horrible way to make a valuation of something, as the prices are inflated due to their fees, people bidding because they get caught up in the action, etc.
  15. Pictures and reviews don't matter to me. I simply wouldn't trust data I find important to a refurbished drive. Period. Warranty means nothing if the data is gone. A new 8TB drive is only $110.
