Nice. Did you do a 4790K multi thread? If you did then that could be top spot.

You can definitely say you've the fastest 4790K on LTT cinebench.

Was that with the DICE? And the fabricated pots?

I think the TIM I got is freezing and becoming ineffective. got some gelid extreme on order but thats gonna take some time to get here. not bad for first my first time around with a homemade pot.

ya it was just out of convenience , the pentium powers my mediaserver and i was looking at the nhd 14 and was like screw it...the i7 is right here, lets give er a go. proud to report nothing has died ...yet

so  i think the p67 is holding back the 2500k. i tried to bench that one as well but still could not scale to 5.1 or beyond, so im fairly certain it was the board hitting the wall not the chip but its odd i see people using this p67 formula and getting 53x and  54x

dice is fun and cheap \ easy to do. still risky if you dont have the cash to replace your parts.

so far i have tried

99% alcohol

methyl hydrate

acetone

all seem to relatively have the same affect.

i think my TIM is holding me back slightly but my results were still competitive , me thinks anyways :)

Jibs and I are working on the next project a la #slumdogindustries

Keep pushing.

TIM will help you a bit more, but I advise not to push more voltage through your 4790K on DICE. 1.7V is already too much & don't try more than 1.55-1.6V on XTU on DICE. A lot of the Elite overclockers have killed several chips with XTU even on Ln2.

Gee, 1.7V is already out of my comfort zone for DICE.

Next project.? Gonna make a GPU pot now.?

We building a cold water exchanger. Just for shits and giggles. It might work for my 775 board which don't like sub zero operation.

Basically pumping water through a can filled with dice . Water is actually windshield wiper fluid aka water meth so it don't freeze. Gonna omit the radiators out of the loop.

I kill lots of chips on water cooling. Well only 5. Going past 1.8v kills em in a hurry.

I pushed the pentium to 1.86v last night and it survived matter of fact it's doing netflix as we speak clocked at 4.8.

Voltage doesn't scare me but I don't wanna kill good chips either. Intel has never denied any one of my rmas :)

I will eventually kill a pentium on dice because I want to know how much volts the Haswell core will take before she dies at sub zero temps

What's the Pentium your using? Because I've got a 630 and apart from a stint of trying to get it catching fire I haven't even tried doing a proper overclock with it (1.9V was being pushed through it, and the last time I used it it still worked at the stock voltage), and I'm not sure what speed to aim for.

pentium g3258. its a current 4th generation core series haswell part

very different then your 630, which is a couple years past young now

I tend to stay away from intel .90nm chips. I thinks this is netburst ughhh slow like molasses

a good speed to push for either is light speed or at least break the sound barrier with a good ol sonic boom

if you want an idea of what types of speeds other people have hit with a particular chip I would suggest you search hwbot. I hope you stomp entry #6. tell him prokon sent ya

I know they're slow (especially with HT disabled), but they can take one hell of a beating without failing (the same can't be said about my motherboard/psu-one of them of overloaded yesterday).

oh i forgot to mention

I have pushed up to 2.1V on lga 775 chips. all were .65nm and .45nm chips

did not kill any of them, they still fine for resale.

gonna be shifting my 775 inventory over here. looks like jumpy has a large shipment coming in. tried to get a pentium from america but they outta stock. hope they wait for me on dial ups too

dont you worry. I am "unofficially" sponsored by my local retailer and their IPR program. its only 5.99 for 2 years coverage on the pentium

Well the 2550k made it to 5.1 on the new board, which turned out to be a whole other bag of worms. AMI BIOS Flashing utility for a corrupt BIOS was a super fun adventure into the depths of interweb forums. Need new RAM, my 2400 Trident kits were not playing nice with the Z77.

Cooling loop will be here next week so with a little finesse I should be able to get past the overvoltage warnings @ 1.55v+ and creep the CB score up a few notches...Now I just need to figure out a damn case for the thing.

Dunno... Now your cpu is better than a fx4xxx tho

Thats the issue... this thing atm scores higher than my friends 4300 in Cinebench ... like 40 points lower than this 4 ( or 5 ) year old CPU ...
