well it was interesting trial and error last night. p5q pro turbo gets a crazy cold bug so i cant test 775s on that board via sub zero.

only got a couple of runs in on the x5650 very little improvement will post score later. we still got some fine tuning to do :)

I think that should leak Acetone, but then I haven't physically seen it. Make sure to only put as little acetone as you need.

And you'll probably want to move on to a more professional pot once you start getting higher clocks & want to venture into Ln2.

Freeze the 4790K already. Want to see how high you go. Good luck.

And again don't slack on insulation or you are gonna have a dead Mobo+CPU.

Just about to start Cinebench - changing the stock Northbridge heatsink for the active one that I bought for the P5K has made a difference - even the higher quality motherboards have heatsinks that suck.
Edit: about 15oC headroom as well before it hits the supposed limit of 75oC as well.

I found it at a place that supplies welding equipment and gases etc. Gave the guy five bucks he filled my cooler and pocketed the cash. Call your local ice company if they dont carry it they can prolly recommend a retailer

Edit: @Jumper118

so are you using 2 different kits of ram? this could be something to do with it if one kit can clock high than the other. the fsb speed is quite high as well so you might want to set those manually. maybe try 1.25v to start with an work it up from there

$5 per KG is expensive.

I get 10lbs or approximately 4.53Kg for $12ish..

nice, they'd probably want £50 for 10kg here.

That's terrible.

I am now looking in to finding a good LN2 supplier. Hopefully I can find something reasonable.

You can get LN2 "for science"

If you're looking pots, @ProKoN and the BeanCan® can be experimented with.

Yes. I have heard of people telling their suppliers that they are using it for personal science. Unless you let them know that, they charge you the "Commercial" rate which is usually higher.

I already own a Kingpin CPU & GPU pot so I am covered already.

The reason I'm using the different kits at the same time (Win 7 64 bit uses less than 800MB for me-I could run it on 2GB) is because people have had both of them running at 1066MHz, and because they have the same timings. The problem at any rate was the shitty passive NB heatsink wasn't doing its job. The active cooler I'm using now-which as it happens was bought for my dead P5K motherboard-is running warm but not hot at the same settings as I was previously running at 4.44GHz. (This cooler, after 10 years I was still able to get one new in box: http://www.overclockersonline.net/?p=5000286)

that heatsink look good if you point a small fan at its you should be able to do over 1.3v on the nb :)

I'll be going for the records slowly. Thing is I am only a college students so money is always at a short here. I can't afford to splurge money on new GPUs & DICE/LN2. On the otherhand quite a few(not all) of the top OverClockers have already graduated & work professional jobs so they can spend more money.

I'll get there, but it will take time.

any suggestions for TIM. all the ones I own freeze at sub zero

i have been using 99% alcohol as the catalyst. is acetone any better?

im working on better insulation all round. last night was a preliminary run.

grabbed another cooler full of dice for 5cad...oh soo cheap.

if anyone lives in or close to a major urban center this stuff should be readily available. it took me 2 phone calls to source it. i have found some ln2 but its not very cost effective. I can get a 5 foot bottle for $281.00 cad

i dont have alot of cash either, but i got some old heatsinks, scrap copper and some simple hand tools lol

the i7 will be last on the list to bench. tonight im going pentium styles on the maximus 6 formula or 2500k . but the 2500k is a chitty chip

nice to see you round here rt123. just dropped that 1051 bomb and i was like damn i seen that score before lol.  i like your pipe smoking avatar, link it up
