I'm thinking of getting back in to the cinebench of the 4790k but still being a Intel noobie what's a safe voltage and Max temp 1.4? And by safe I mean like running a benchmark not using it everyday that high

yeah temps wise stay below 90c and try and stay under 1.5v to avoid rapid degradation 1.4v would probably be ok for a few months :P

Sounds good, I don't mind pushing crazy volts through processors if you couldn't tell with my 1.6Volt 8350.

there was one batch with samsung ram, but they are very rare.

The 660 i got off eBay has Samsung RAM. It also stays cooler with lower fan speed compared to the Hynix 660. I take it the Samsung VRAM is voodoo magic for clocks?

yeah samsung ram is legendary. they were sell low profile ddr3 1600mhz cl9 with no heat spreader, and you could literally just type in 2133/2400 at cl10/11 on 1.65v and it would work on pretty much every single kit i saw. as for their vram, most of the 700 series cards you see with 2000mhz vram (8000mhz effective) will have samsung ram.

R15 @4.8ghz
have you tried using a tiny bit of base clock to get it just over 4.8ghz? you can get up 2 places just by getting 2cb :P

@Jumper118 I am going to try maybe bumping it a bit as well I wasn't running my high speed memory I was running 1600mhz. I've got a 8Gb kit that I can run 2200mhz so that should help as well but I have Thanksgiving today so that's all I am going to be able to post today.

ok it might help if the board can do sli :P any ideas on what board you are going to get? there are loads of nice z77 boards that should be fairly cheap now.

I've seen a nice Gigabyte board (can't remember the model) on PartPicker but Scan doesn't have any Z68 or Z77 boards anymore. I'd like to get an MSI Z77 if I can get a good deal on one but it has to be brand new.

Any of Gigabytes UP series are great. For MSI the Mpower boards are highly recommended as well.

I run with a Z77X-UP7. fantastic board. Glad I only paid £160 for it.

Where did you get it from, I've been thinking about an MSI Z77-GD55/65 but can't find any apart from eBay.

Got my UP7 off Amazon. I'd like to add that it was an impulse buy. And it was also the last one in stock.

I left it running 1.34v in XTU with fans at like 600 RPM while I'm at college. hopefully it passed but I'm seeing sub 60c average temps!

At similar clocks it looks like 2 AMD cores perform just over half as well as haswell cores

STOP using prime95 with Haswell CPUs!
