Anthrax 7.0 - Mostly Whoosh With A Bit Of Sploosh

Well this is why people mod and tinker with stuff because they feel they can improve on whatever is there already even if it's slightly or cosmetically. Everyone has their own ideas and tastes and there is no way any manufacturer is going to be able to make something that everyone wants to keep the same. SSD Sticker is too big peel it off. RAM wrong colours. So doing things like modding just makes it more yours

That's kinda what I wanted to show with this build log and the reason why I'm trying to get daily in depth. Those new to this hooby seem to expect everything to come as they want and bolt together with no thought or effort. When something doesn't match or fit their fast they complain rather than making it work.

Thats the wrong, color paint it. That fan doesn't have mounts there? Make some! That PSU isn't individually sleeved, sleeve it or in my case ask a friend who is a professional to do it for you ;)

I think I did some of this in my ChibiPC build but this build is bigger so there should be a bit more.

Also you reminded me a love the labels on SanDisk SSD's their just red and black and say SanDisk Solid State Drive, or something to that effect. I don't know why I like it so much but I do.

Lol you mean like the Intel drives. Damn do I want a set of 480GB 730’s in raid zero.

That also reminds me when I got one of my Samsung drives my mother happened to be around and said it looked like a smartphone which I kinda chuckled at a bit inside.

Exactly and you are doing a fine job of that :) I've yet to mod a PC but I'll get round to it when I've finished buying everything I don't know how or what but I'll have to think what I want and why I want it not just rush into it.

I'm scared to sleeve cables haha I think I'll mess it up mind you if I modded anything I'd screw it up in one way or another but hey learn by your mistakes right? :P

I do like the SanDisk SSD's too I like the simple look but I've got a Samsung Evo because I'll change the colour eventually my build will be green and black because Toxic. So I'll have to probably paint a lot of stuff.

Haha! Good old mum's that's funny, when I got my 750D my mum said why does it have a window you going to live in it? I still don't know if she was being serious or joking but I just laughed and said if I was going to live in it I'd get a 900D but then she looked confused, so I walked away.

I have all of samsung's drives since the 840. As well as a bunch of other brands for certain tasks. Still for my main rig I prefer Intel and a proper SATA III intel drive has been a long time coming which is why I want a pair of 730's.

I chuckled because samsung makes sartphones and much of their ID is the same so I wasnt surprised.

You did well. I like me some puns. ;)

I dont really have requirements like that myself... I have only ever bought one sata hard drive and I think that ended up to be one of the bad wd green drives. So I would be happy with any ssd

Edit: messes up your qoute I will fix it later

Oh yea I know what you mean which is why im still using my two intel 510's and 520's in this build I still have my Intel V25 40gb drive running. I would like a pair of 730's but two 480GB's will cost an arm and a leg and im saving up for a pair of 880's currently.

Lol I saw that and im like did I really type that badly?

Just spend the couple bucks and get it. It makes using the forum on your phone so much nicer. There may be a bit of getting used to it though.

Really that was all that was stopping you? That would have been off in 2 seconds if it was in my way lol. I thought the problem was that the fan was being partially blocked by the ram cooler not a little piece of metal off the side

Its good to not be off topic in this thread now lol

Yes that was all. Take a look at the second picture in the previous update. Also I did have it off quickly once locating the tin snips. The ram cooler is still kinda in the way of the back fans but thats unavoidable.

lol, whats being on topic? :P

Psst, see that date next to the title of the update? Well that is the actual date of the update, or as close as I can approximate based on other updates and the time code on the picture(s).

Are you telling me I'm looking at updates from last year...

I was more telling you to look at the time between the updates rather than that. But yes you are looking at updates that technically happened last year.

Dont be alarmed the build still isn't done yet, or maybe you should be since its been 8-9 months since I started. The updates you are seeing now have not seen the light of day prior to me posting them. In essence they are still "brand new".

Initially the project was moving quicker than I could post the updates that I wanted. I still wanted to post the entire build log for the reasons I mentioned before. However, with my luck in the last year or so with electronics I hit snag after snag with what I was trying to do. This build was even put on hold enough for me to build Chibi PC over Christmas.

I hope this doesn't hamper you ability to enjoy the build as I post updates. I soon hope to catch up to where I currently am but that depends on how much spare time I have and how many updates I decide to keep. As for how this all managed to get delayed as much as it was youll have to keep an eye on the updates to find out. ;)

get metal keycaps, plenty of shiny ;)

although it took me a few days i just noticed the num pad is on the left and i think i would love that as the reason i was ok with losing the num pad is that its on the right of the keyboard and i never use it but i feel i would use it if it was on the left lol

Sorry I'll try to catch up ASAP. There's a post a couple of pages back with a spoiler that's shows a picture with sneak peek of the future updates. You may then also understand why I'm a bit behind.

Yes it is I put it there because the layout I have programmed for that keyboard already has a numpad. It also still allows me to have my hands closer together. For me that numpad is acting more like a macropad than anything. Using a numpad with your left hand definetly takes some practice BTW.

Oh? Then had at it. Almost no mechanical boards have this standard so I recommend a TKL board and a separate numpad.
