How's the Mini ITX X99 board?

It is perfect. I cramed this in a Node 304 with a GTX980 and although it´s a tight fit (which is expected with mITX hehe) it is super functional and stable. Many people aren´t sure about it because it is X99 and only dual channel, but honestly I didn´t run into any bottlenecks or performance loss situation. The only real bad part about is that it only allows very few coolers to fit and the cooler that comes with it is... best case paper weight. But with the CoolerMaster Seidon I achieve easy 4.2 Ghz with XMP profile (RAM @ 2800MHz) and very acceptable temps.

So if I had a complain about it, then I´d say they should rework the WiFi adapter a bit, because it comes as an extra part that needs to be assembled and that´s a bit flimsy.

Alright time for Update #5 modding the 600C.

 

The Corsair 600C has a meshed bottom for fans and air intake with a dust filter. I´ve had to remove the dust filter and cut a sheet of metal to size, in order to fit it in the bottom of the case. I´ve done this for a better stability of the bottom part because I wanted to mount the pump and my EK through fittings there. After cutting, drilling and measuring the positions, I´ve fittet the sheet in the case. It fits just perfect in there and looks almost, as if it was meant to be there.

Today´s Update #6 is all about tools, measuring and bending the EK PETG tubes.

 

Since I´ve made up my mind to use EKWB PETG 12/16mm tubing it was clear due to the smaller form factor of the case, that internal fans would be a luxury I can´t afford space wise. Luckily I don´t need any .

I do not have any pre made bending fixtures, because it isn´t the first time I worked with PETG, so I bend my tubes free hand. I remember the good old acrylic glass days... when most of the people decided not to bend but kind of cheat their way (I did the same hehe) through with 90° fittings. Acrylic is just too briddle and not very good to work with, PETG can be considered to be a small revolution for that matter.

Today´s Update #6 is all about tools, measuring and bending the EK PETG tubes.

Well that depends, the most expensive parts are of course the fullcover blocks, radiator, pump and fan. Also the fittings add up. The PETG is actually super cheap. You pay for like 2x 500mm EKWB HD tube around 7.50 USD.

 

I´ve had already the pump (just the variable D5 pump not modded), the external monster radiator, the fans and the EKWB fullcover blocks for my Titan X cards. And still I put around 900 USD just in watercooling parts in. Not counted in the case itself, the modded cables or any tools.

 

If you went PETG for a custom CPU loop I´d say roughly 300 to 500 USD depending on the components you use. The PETG HD fittings from EK are not really more expensive than softtube compression fittings either, but it looks a lot better .

Okay because I was thinking about setting one up, or be extremely badass and spend the ~$200 on tools and ~$20-30ish and do copper piping, then take it to a plating shop to get them nickel plated

Yeah that's the inherit disadvantage of hard tubing, but it looks so much badass that way though. So I can pay a little more work to upgrade things, but then again, I'm not planning on upgrading that often so it won't be a problem for me at least.

I like it actually better than soft tubing, it´s cleaner and easier to maintain. Never had a problem with Mayhem´s stuff ever with hard tubing in the past.

Nah that´s not an issue at all. Once you have a basic set of tools and some experience, it goes all easy . PETG is overrated when it comes to work with it.

That's how I would go about with bending PETG to since I can also put in offset bends wherever needed and I can also eyeball how far I need to bend them, plus it helps cut down on the overall cost of tools. I watch Singularity Computers videos on how Daniel Cannon bends those tubes. Same thing

Yes it is really easy once you get the hang of it . With the silicone tube inside there´s little you can do wrong if you have a good eye and a steady hand. It is more or less just about the timing, you have to learn when the PETG is hot enough but not too hot.

Most PETG beginners start with something along the line 10/12mm tubes because they are easier to work with. What I personally nowadays dislike is the good old acrylic cheating way with fittings instead of bending.

Update #8 Flushing the loop and checking if it´s sealed.

 

Alright it´s finally time for the test to find out, if I did a good job or not. Get the quick spill connectors coupled with the radiator and pour in some water boy!

 

 

Some paper towels can´t hurt... just in case .

 

 

With my external PSU (Rosewill 350W lol) to the pump I will check the loop and flush it.

 

 

All worked perfectly fine! Time to get the cables and their management done!

Yeah don´t see a reason why AS Rock would discontinue their highest end OCing mainboard. This is a super reliable board. I hope EKWB takes in the future AS Rock more into consideration, though I can imagine that a demand for full cover blocks for mainboards isn´t super dramatically high.

Alright Update #9 getting the cables in incoming.

 

I´ve have been debating with myself and a designer I know back and forward about colors and such, and I gave her advice a shot to go with a triple colored build, since most people out there trying to go for mono or dual color schemes. I wanted to set this build apart and I´ve had to deal with other 'issues' like the yellow on the AS Rock mainboard. Since I´m not going to spraypaint a mainboard (no offense Linus ), there was the option to aim for a yellow and black build, but it was kind of boring when we pictured it. So I will go for a yellow, green and black color scheme for this build .

Then there was the option to sleeve the cables myself, which isn´t much of a problem either, but Cablemod does a really amazing job with their modded cables and they´ve had the color I needed, so I decided eventually to settle down with a Cablemod´s kit for the EVGA Supernova P2. I want to stress out here, that I´ve got no sponsors for my build, so I don´t advertise in anybody´s behalf. It´s only that their stuff is really good quality and as long as standard colors fit, go check them out .

Update #10 Matching colors

 

The Corsair 600C features the black plastic covers in the top of the case, and since they are easy to assemble and disassemble I modded the bigger part to fit to my black, yellow and green color scheme.
