Intel overclocking SSD's?

Overl0rd

http://wccftech.com/intel-showcase-ssd-overclocking-idf13-san-francisco-ivy-bridgee-cpus/

The new Ivy Extreme will also feature overclocking SSD's for the first time! Stay tuned for the IDF13 in San Francisco.

They'll also demonstrate a new "Extreme Tuning Utility"  which allows users to set OC profiles for certain programs.

I can't really see the reason why. But then again that has never stopped me

I just looked at your avatar, and now... I'm scared. Just don't burn your house down, okay? Everything will be fine, calm down, breathe deeply! :D

So... If Jesus had the gold, would he buy himself out instead of waiting 3 days for the respawn?

I can just imagine Linus overclocking his 8 SSD's to 5GHz...   Instant program loads and likely to melt the ice caps.

Would be cool to actually see watercooled SSDs... perhaps watercooled overclocked HDDs aswell? ^.-

Yes, spinning 20k RPM.

We should be overclocking the onboard motherboard controller for storage devices, it peaks at 6Gb/s, overclocking it to reach 12Gb/s would be a beast.... what im saying is that OCing SSD is pointless if it's limited by the onboard controller on the motherboard...

this is odd

anandtech said that it never comes down on how fast a controller is

It isn't limited by the motherboard except for sequential operations, which are not really important.

Probably won't make any noticeable difference in performance, it will just be for benchmarking but that doesn't make it any less interesting.

This is cool and all but SSD's are still too expensive. The focus should be more on getting them cheaper, not making them better(yet). They are already "good enough" in my opinion (over HDD's). When SSD's are getting close to the price of an HDD for the same amount of memory then we'll start talking performance.
