How does an H100i fare with a 5820K at full load?

I do After Effects, Premiere, and AVID work -- and I'm looking to pick up Cinema 4D. I'm a one man operation at the moment so I will be rendering my own stuff -- I'd like to keep such a majestic chip like the 5820K nice and frosty -- how well does the H100i do with that sort of stuff? Especially with OCing? I'd really like to get to 4 GHz while fan cooling everything that isn't the CPU.

An H100i should get a 5820K to 4 just fine, on my 5820K I've got it stable at 4.4 under an NH-D14 which performs very similarly to an H100i.

Yes, one of the top end cpu coolers on the planet can handle upper-mid tier cpu... and 4Ghz isn't a terrible lot for a 5820k

pretty good

a 280mm rad would be better but an H100i is definitely enough

All I can say is this, my 5960x gets to 5Ghz on a Swiftech cpu cooler with temps from 40-65C  it usually stays at 45 but gets periodic jumps.  That said, I'd say the H100i is just fine for your applications and probably damn near perfect.  I'm thinking about down grading to a Corsair because my Swiftech is a little OP for my current set up.  I'm also getting a 900D shortly.

I still find it hard to believe a 5.0GHZ 5960X will run so cool. You must get a one in a million chip. :)

I don't exactly know how it runs so cool it boggles my mind.  Although, it's pretty chilly in my room and I have blackout curtains

I had an H100i on my I7 5930k for a couple months before I went full water cooling.  A top notch cooler. I switched also to the Swiftech H220x which ran about 3 degrees cooler.  I ended up using the Apogee block in my build.

Overall at full load i never went higher than 75 degrees at an overclock of 4.6Ghz.
