Microsoft to use Baidu instead of Bing in Windows 10 in China

GoodBytes

In China only, Microsoft has given up it's Bing search engine in favor to the massively popular Baidu search engine.

This means that Bing search engine will still be available, but Windows 10 Edge web browser searches will now be passed to Baidu instead of Bing.

There is no information on Cortana, but it is safe to assume that Cortana will continue to use Bing for pulling data to make the service work, but any web searches via the Cortana search box will use Baidu.

The unprecedented deal comes as Microsoft signs a raft of agreements with Chinese companies, from convincing local smartphone maker Xiaomi to adopt the company's Azure cloud platform to a deal with the Sichuan Provincial Government to provide training, cloud computing knowledge, and incubation for local start-up companies. The full list of agreements, available at Microsoft News, includes a partnership with 21Vianet to further push the Azure cloud platform into the region, with a particular focus on large state-owned corporate customers.

For reference, Baidu search engine is so popular in China, that Google has a difficulty gaining market share.

HAH, even communists don't like Bing.

Just give up and let it die already. You know that when communists don't like what you made, you've screwed up big time.

Google is the most popular search engine in the world everywhere but China (to the extent that some politicians apparently think Google controls the internet). Bing is popular with.....who?

Bing is a failure, and MS just needs to let it die.

This makes total sense, why would they have Bing in China? Read the book "In the Plex", it discusses Google's attempt at dominating the Chinese market, and then retreating as it just could not comply with the Chinese like Baidu does.

Comb it with a brick

I saw this coming.

Google is the most popular search engine in everywhere except commmunist China.

You forgot Yandex in Russia and some post-Soviet states.

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.
