Looking for a mechanical, portable and small form factor keyboard

So I'm going to uni soon, and I'll be getting a new laptop, and I hate using non-mechanical keyboards after switching to mechanical keyboards, so I was just wondering what kind of mechanical keyboard that is small and quite to use so I don't disturb people when I type? 

 

I live in the UAE, and I don't have a budget, so just throw anything at me

KBP V60! it's the smallest full mech keyboard i know of. you can get it with a multitude of Cherry MX switches, so you can get the ones you like! :D

otherwise maybe a Ducky mini?

Maybe some CM Storm Quickfire TKL board with Brown switches (which I don't find comfortable, but seem to be the most quiet key switches)

 

Or maybe one of those small Ducky Shine keyboards (not sure what keyswitches they have)

as to the disturbance, use reds or browns to not make people annoyed, and if you feel really courteous you can buy a set of o-rings to help even more.

yeah that was my plan, get a quite keyboard, key o-rings to make it even quieter

reds with o-rings are insanely silent, but feel weird. browns with o-rings are slightly louder but feel less changed than without o rings.

Good god, I don't know Razer switches. I've only tried them in stores and walked away in disgust.

Corsair K65 with Reds or Browns. Cooler Master TKL. Any Tenkeyless board should be pretty compact.

I was thinking about it, but I've heard that it's very heavy.

 

Corsair K65 with Reds or Browns. Cooler Master TKL. Any Tenkeyless board should be pretty compact.

 

I'll be using the keyboard to take notes and such, so I'll need to have a full tenkey keyboard to make it easier for me.

I take my Corsair Vengence K65 into school. Man that thing gets people surrounding me. It's not even the lit version :o

Kinda heavy. Not really enough to be a problem

Yeah, look into the KBP V60, Poker (2 and 3 are both great), Ducky Mini. Basically any 60% board.

Leopold do FC660M I think it is, if you require arrow keys as well.

 

Then there are a few boards bigger again, 75% boards like the KBT Race and more.

For a bit (lot) more look into TEX Yoda I think it is, 60% plus trackpoint mouse nub thingy, or something like a Happy Hacking Keyboard. Thats going to be really quiet, but its a different switch feel, so maybe try before you buy?

 

If you go Cherry, either Red/Black or Brown/Clears, depending on how much tactility and the force required, and like you said mess with o-rings or even landing pads.

 

I'm currently using a V60 in Uni, so I might be able to answer some questions, if you have any. Though I tend not to use it in class, and only in Labs, as I prefer to handwrite lectures out.
