Can I run a different brand powerline off existing adapter?

I have a powerline adapter that I'm currently using for my PC. I want to add another one for a different device, but couldn't find the same one I already have. If I buy a different brand/model, will it still be able to work with the existing adapter already connected to the router?

The one I'm using right now is the TP-Link AV500 Nano

i have some recent experience with this, and it's a really interesting case.

i have a pair of TP-link powerlines that need a button pressed to sync.

i also have a pair of -shady brand- powerlines that sync automagicly.

if i plug in and synd the tp-link powerlines first, and then plug in the shady ones, they are both seperate networks

in any other scenario they just all connect together.

Hmm... That is a hard question to answer. They SHOULD work because Ibelieve the protocol is exactly the same on all powerlines. You could try it.... Find somewhere with a good return policy so if they don't work together, you can maybe get some of your money back.

Is it bad that my dream setup only costs a few thousand not counting the obutto?

The protocol may be the same, but the firmware is not.

Likely. I am using a D-Link and a TP-Link together and they work perfectly fine

well yea. But if the protocol is the same, they SHOULD be able to work together and talk to eachother. Unless one the companies was smart/dumb enough to make it so 2 different brands or models won't work together.

They theoretically should work together just fine as long as they're using the same standard, but some people do have issues across brands.
