Please don't buy a 9590 if you haven't already.  It's just an overpriced 8350.  An i5 would be a better choice.

I hope you haven't bought it already.

It will overheat and shut down with air cooling, you need a water cooler

Please don't buy it. If you did, then..... sucks 4 u.

The very most minimum I would recommend cooling the crap thing is a Noctua NH-D14.

FX-9590 runs too damn hot, should use water cooler to make it work "Nice".

If you haven't bought it then you can go with FX-8350 or i5-4460 - i5-4690K instead.

If you gotten that CPU YOU WILL NEED A WATER COOLER. If not DON'T GET IT, get one of the other FX 8XXX series. The 9XXX series are horrible and overheat.

It doesnt even hit 5.0Ghz OFTEN with the water cooler, it will certainly throttle with AIR!!!!

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

ok thanks a lot

Or Corsair H100i, it's cheaper and performs good. But Kraken X61 is better than H100i.

Doesn't the 9590 come with an AIO with a 120mm rad?

In which case, the NH-D15 would be quite a bit better than that AIO.

Not that I recommend this particular CPU at all, but it's not really correct to say that it needs water cooling.

That is a very good price to pay for the CPU alone, problem is, you will need to also invest into a mega high end motherboard that supports the FX9, as well as $100 in aftermarket cooling. Then energy consumption per year is going to be really high with the FX9. In all honesty, just sell the CPU on eBay or craigslist as brand new for $150-$180, make a quick buck and invest into a better platform.

It doesn't actually run that hot, AMD cpu's have much lower operating temperatures than intel.

It does however put out more heat & use more power.

If good cooler is used then yeah it's cool, also the max temperature is lower....

an nhd 15 will be perfectly fine. the stock cooler for this chip is only a 120mm aio and the nh d15 is much better.

There wouldn't be a massive difference. The NH D15 would be quieter too.
